So you just flipped Kentucky with us to play O State on their home floor. One of the #1 seeds has to play there.
No way would they give an underachieving 8 seed a location like that
Its happened a handful of times, in tournament history im sure.
But typically an 8 or 9 seed. Wouldnât get rewarded with something like that
So they would move Ohio St, up a seed line or down a seed line to avoid that
One example i am familiar of #2 seed Duke played #7 seed South Carolina in Greenville, SC. Duke lost. March 2017
Thereâs other options for 1/2 sites as well. But if youâre a 1 seed they generally try to get you the closest site to home as possible with a few stipulations and exceptions.
Columbus is less than 200 miles from Lexington vs 400+ to Birmingham. Houston to Columbus is ~1200 miles vs 650 miles to Birmingham which is the 1/2 closest site to us. Heck, even Denver would be closer than sending us to Columbus.

The Athletic article on Contenders and Pretenders at this point on the season has UH a Contender. Texas, however is a Pretender. Other notables are Virginia, Pretender, Alabama, Contender.
Iâd be pretty confident in a rematch with Arizona. I was much more concerned last year because of Mathurin We can handle Ballo.
