I feel bad for Wilson, but not that bad. He didn’t get on the court but was coached by a future HOF coach. If he decides to get into coaching, the CKS lessons he learned will be valuable. He also experienced the NCAA Tournament. Lot’s of players never get that experience.

Best of luck Mr. Wilson.

In CKS I trust, having said that I am disappointed on how we managed Mylik Wilson and the way we developed (I.e lack of it) last years yrs freshmen class and then we doubled down with 4 additional freshmen by getting projects like Lath. WTH are we doing with projects. We are in b12 now, pls stop recruiting projects.

40% FG for a big is awful

Lath may have been brought in as the carrot for Thomas. Cynical but it happens. If Thomas signs elsewhere, I hope Lath follows. While he may be a physical specimen, what little I know about Lath tells me his game is not polished enough to compete with the big boys.

We are not in the AAC anymore.

It really needs to be stretch 4 unless JWan comes off the bench and I can’t see that

In many other scenarios, Roberts has the size and tangibles to be the stretch 4. Just not the shooting. He is not a 5 and would fit best on many teams as the stretch 4. Wish he could develop some sort of shot.

Only way that works is if coach brings a stretch 5 like Aidoo from Tenn. who is not in the transfer portal.

What about Jamarion Sharp 7’ 5" center he look good on defense. He look good on pick and roll.

Agreed.

I also feel disappointed with how we handled the Mylik Wilson situation. Maybe this is simply a collateral effect of NIL for us?

As for Project Recruits, aside from Powell (Transferred out) & currently Lath (Redshirt), are there any that have actually been successful?

Asking since I only started following our Basketball team in 2019, so I’m not sure if we’ve had any other project/developmental players.

Maybe pesik has us getting Quinnerly from Alabama

almost all our projects work out (assuming they have the body) if they stay 3 or more years

we only started getting top recruits 3/4 seasons ago, almost everyone before that (sampsons 1st 3/4 years ) was a project in some way…
the most successful in regards to how bad they were coming in to being a good player was probably chris harris, who was a deep bench juco big, only recruited him because we had strong ties to him in high school…turned out really good by his senior year who was unplayable to start

the likely true best projects, were probably armoni and fabian… who were way better than harris coming in… but likely had the biggest jumps from start of career to end of career here

Interesting.

Thanks for the breakdown!

I guess our only project “miss” has been Powell, then, and that’s probably mainly because he ultimately decided to transfer.

Ced Alley i would say too. You’re gonna miss on some it’s inevitable.

Ced wasn’t a project. Got decent playing time as a freshman and sophomore. Talent just passed him up. He wouldn’t have played in later years with Grimes, Sasser, Mills

He was apparently practicing 3s so who knows how its like next year.

I’d rather see us go get someone like Tchewa to be our 5 and let J’Wan be the stretch 4 honestly

Most of the players CKS recruits are projects to a certain extent. Obviously Jarace wasn’t but even a guy like TA who was a high 4 star is a project in my eyes.

i dont even think powell was a miss, we are just getting so much better at recruiting that we dont have the ability to wait out development anymore…

i noted armoni, armoni left as an nba prospect at the end… but if you brought in an armoni level freshmen today theyd get no pt, im not sure theyd get the minutes to develop

like @dansatjr noted alley is likely the biggest miss in regards to players we expected to play… but we dont miss much on the projects especially if you do atleast 3 years …jwan was really bad as a true freshmen, you should have seen him at the red white game as a freshmen he looked lost …other freshmen were trying to guide him
