The gap is so big from 1 to the other teams in Kenpom, that right now KP predicts Houston doesn’t lose a game on a game by game prediction.

That’s pretty nuts.

Overall record prediction is 25-6 which would still be insane.

So this would make Robert’s the winningest players in program history- passing Fabian White right?

CBK Report is garbage. Just click bait, engagement farming run by a 15 year old.

I wait on paying KenPom real attention until about 10 games into the season. We brought back 80% of our production so it’s a lil out of whack. In theTP era there are too many factors coming out of the gate.

People don’t realize how scary we could be this coming year.

I was just talking with Heat Check CBB, who have Houston ranked #10, and we discussed this. Some people are overplaying the loss of Shead, even though we’ve lost an All-American every year for the last four years and still been fine.

  • We were on pace for the best EVER defense in KenPom history before Tugler’s and Arceneaux’s injuries 95% of them are coming back 1 year more experienced and stronger. While Milos isn’t the same natural elite defender as Shead, Milos is 6’4" and long (unlike the 6’1" Shead), so there should be almost no fall-off—and we could even be better. Significant muscle gains by Arceneaux, Tugler, Cryer, and the addition of 4-star redshirt freshman McFarland all contribute to that potential.

(Screenshot from mid-season last year)

  • Sampson has never returned this much talent, and from a team that was ranked #1. Houston never falls off because every year, most players make significant jumps in the offseason. Most people are putting Houston at #4, assuming “status quo,” but it’s never status quo here. What happens when the #1 team for most of last year has multiple players that take big leaps? Many are expected to develop internally (for example, LJ has gained 10 lbs of muscle, Tugler is expected to add a 3-point shot to his “defense-only” game, and Arceneaux aims to build a draftable stock despite averaging just 5 points last year).

  • We were elite last year, but last year’s team was actually the worst rebounding team in Sampson’s tenure. We were beating teams bad despite often being out-rebounded. That’s not typical for Houston—imagine if we just return to our average rebounding numbers.

Playing with a mask seems to limit most

Was looking at this years roster compared to last and notice a lot of guys were listed slightly taller. Do yall think they actually grew or we just changed up how we measured them? Examples: Jwan was listed at 6’7” last year but 6’8” this year. Same for Jojo. Sharp and Cryer are listed the same. McFarland, Wilson, Walker, and Arceneaux are all listed an inch taller. KJ’s up two inches. Would definitely be cool if it’s all legit. Can never have too much size.

Nate Hinton wore a clear mask for some UH games but I think he ditched it because it was affecting his play.

Socks or shoes added

Yah that makes the most sense. What kind of threw me is that a few guys had the same height listed but I guess they just didn’t get enough of a boost to round up to a new height.

I was just kidding, the socks things has been a recurring joke here

Dang, Bishop even makes our guys’ faces stronger! Milos needs a bit more time in the S&C program to catch up with Sharp’s face strength.
