2024-25 Coaching Carousel Thread

Not true, totally understood value of Athletics to the U of H. Did not push back on size of Campus $ contribution. When first interviewed for the job, Dr Gouge was clear on need for a strong Athletics program.

(much more in article including Terry Bowdens getting a “payoff ledger” for players when he got the HC job)

Yep. Gougue was on board, our boat was just barely floating. Of course if I remember he was an Auburn alumni so when they came calling he was outta here. But he won a NC with them.

Fun fact. He is on his second stint as president. Retired in 2017 and came back in 2019. In 2013 he was the second highest paid president of a public college at 2.5 a year.

Bachelors and masters from Auburn, PhD Michigan state.

Harsin’s embarrassing bowl loss to Houston –
Yep, a 11-2 team beating to a 6-5 team is real embarrassing alright

As long as this is their mindset, they will continue to be dysfunctional.

Same attitude the Florida State fans had at the Peach Bowl

Yes, and now they’d kill to be at the level of the team we beat in 2015. Proves the point.

People around me knew they sucked especially with a QB who couldn’t hit the beach with a beach ball. The fraternity boy betters at breakfast at the hotel were laying heavy on UH. So embarrassment was expected.

Bo, I will bow to your knowledge of him since you were on the BOR. I used the term “seemed” because that’s how it appeared to me looking from the outside.

Understand as Jay was low key. Auburn’s continuing “unrest” re Football Coaches is primarily caused by some big time $ Donors who want the same results as Alabama & Georgia. The $ spent on Chizik & Gus & potentially on current Coach buyouts would make a large down payment on our new Football Ops Bldg. And at the same time Bruce Pearl gets a Lifetime contract in spite of NCAA recruiting stuff but he is Winning! Sports in the SEC!

Yes staying with a QB that clearly needs a new prescription was shocking. We highly benefited from it.

" 8. Tom Herman, Chicago Bears analyst: Herman has been away too long."

Another horrible AAC to P5 hire.

That is the spot I want to see Primetime go to.

How is Luke Fickel at risk?

GT is the first opening I’ve seen and immediately thought “Tom Herman”.

Georgia was his recruiting ground, their expectations are reasonable, it’s a program that needs "Next level"ing, and they may dig that MENSA stuff.

“One of the most respected names in the game.”

Guys who turn down chances to interview for P5 jobs could be all in on this one.
