I understand you can’t comprehend how he built a house of cards that was not sustainable but almost none of what he did was sustainable.
I warned folks he was a young man in a hurry and wouldn’t be here 3 years. Yet, folks put their hope in him, built buildings and tried fruitlessly to keep him.
Funny, he’s now busy trying to rebuild his reputation. Truly amazing how little regard he had for coaches that helped him along the way and is now reaching back out.
There’s a lot of smoking bridges in this dude’s past.
Herman was absolutely the right hire for UH…just wish he could have seen that staying at UH and winning in 2016 (and having UH match what UT offered at the time) would have been a better long term option for him. Oh well.
Hermans big mistake was taking that sorry O Line coach, with him to Texas.
He took basically the entire UH staff with him to Texas, which was a mistake. Cause position coaches also have to be great recruiters.
Oscar Giles was good. Todd Orlando was good. Thats about it. Lol
And Herman could never get great O Line recruits, until the very end, when his job was on the line
Remember Drew Mehringer. Wide Receivers coach in 2015. Guy is jumping from job to job, like its Tinder
How can you think this? You must be crazy. Everyone here says that it wouldn’t have been sustainable and that he is terrible for having decided to leave for a better job. He is a liar because he didn’t come out in the middle of the season and say to everyone, “Hey, I’m taking another job after this season”.
SARCASM
Do you go to a lot of UT games?
Sorry folks, CTH was a short timer the minute he set foot on the UH campus. If you keep focusing on the sugar high, you’ll die from diabetes.
Well, people keep bringing him up, so I get my “two cents” in.
As well you should, my friend.
3 or 4 in the last 30 years, so no.
If its Colorado or USF = probably another season in Jackson for Sanders.
“According to Reed, Sanders has also been in contact with South Florida about the open job there. He has not, however, talked with anyone representing Auburn. That coaching search has moved in a different direction, according to Reed.”
I like Bozeman…in the summer
Just a guess, but I wonder if this means Lane Kiffin is close to signing. Watched a little bit of Paul Finebaum’s show today. He admitted he has no inside knowledge what will happen with Kiffin, but opined that Auburn has deeper pockets of NIL money than Mississippi and implied Kiffin would be able to get better talent in the SEC at Auburn.
I wouldn’t read that much into it. From what I’ve read in Auburn circles, the consensus belief there seems to be that Deion’s carnival barker routine wouldn’t help them all that much; they get plenty of attention as-is. I imagine much of the SEC feels the same way.
It does seem, separately, as though Kiffin is the guy, though. Not sure that’s the right hire, but it’ll certainly be something to watch.
So Auburn is a step up from Ole Miss? I thought people said all SEC jobs were great.
Herman lost to UConn, Navy, SMU and Memphis in those two seasons… or did you forgot?
Earlier this season, an ESPN guy said “the NIL collective at Auburn is ten times what it is at Ole Miss.”
Generally, I’d say SEC jobs come in four tiers of resources, and generally they have the expectations to match:
-
Natty or bust – Expected to compete for a championship every year, and they have the resources to do it – Bama, Georgia, Tennessee. Texas and OU will be here, too. You’ll note that there are a lot more schools that expect to consistently compete for championships than there are real championship contenders. The ones that aren’t in that club tend to be pretty high-turnover until they get there. Texas A&M thinks they’re here, and desperately wants to be here.
-
Dark Horse – These schools don’t necessarily expect you to compete for a championship every year, but they want you to look good every year, and great on occasion. Auburn, LSU, Florida. All of them can win titles, but they don’t really expect to year-in and year-out.
-
(Almost) everyone else – Most of the SEC is happy with you if you just win a couple games, beat their big rival, and pull the occasional upset of the real power programs. If you win a conference title here, much less a natty, you’ll never have to buy another beer in this town for as long as you live. You should make a bowl game, but beyond that…winning in the SEC is hard, dude.
-
Just happy to be here – It’s nice if you wanna win a couple conference games, but like…Vandy’s not gonna pressure you to do that immediately. They’re probably never gonna win a conference title, or even make a conference title game. They know that, and they can live with it. Kentucky used to be down here, but they’ve elevated their game of late.
“Potential future openings
Texas State: Jake Spavital, Johnny Manziel’s former offensive coordinator, is 13-34 in Year 4.”
TX State looks better. Another year cant hurt.
Did not know a bad back was why Bill Clark left UAB.
Colorado
“Departed Auburn coach Bryan Harsin is interested, as is former Texas coach Tom Herman,”
Barry Odom to USF ?
“Charlotte’s move to the AAC will only mean more exposure for the Niners. Because of this, Director of Athletics Mike Hill knew that the new head coach needed to have sway and respect across the nation.”
“Part of Charlotte’s reshaping will come through the NIL market. The team as a whole will have an NIL collective, while impact players will likely attain NIL agents to help land deals.”
Sumlin getting consideration for another P5 job? WHY? What has he shown in the last 5 years that would even warrant consideration?
