I was split into offering local talent Chris McDermott, but if coach can give a player like Darius Bowser a scholarship why not the #1 player in your back yard.
I know Nic Codie plays the same position, and that’s the Pf position. But extending a scholarship offer to McDermott would be cool/good faith and beneficial/good press to the school if a local HS like Booker T Washington wins or at least makes it to state.
As a prospect I would say he’s in that realm of a Fabian White. And I know UH’s talent level has increase since then but what harm does it do to give a kid wanting to come to UH the thirteen scholarship, especially when most of the time is not used because our depth/rotation is set up already.
Worst thing that could happen is the kid does have skills but not for a Big 12 championship contending team. But after spending a year or two here, he can take the practices and knowledge he learned from a future HOF head coach, and move down in competition and probably does well; and plays overseas as a pro.

The kid is listed as 6’7” 215 on 247. I saw him in person this summer and would say that’s about right.
Similar build to Arceneaux and no one’s comparing him to a skeleton.
I would agree with you but then i remember UH is in the best cbb conference by a mile now
