By the by last season we lead the Nation in scoring defense, allowing 58 per game.

After our first two games we are allowing 53

I still can’t comprehend the fact that we wanted Isaacs. His game (soft, undersized, injury prone) is literally the antithesis of Sampson basketball defensively.

Deceiving. Our first two unranked opponents last year averaged 42.5 points.

The third game, our opponent scored 44.

If our unranked opponents are scoring 53 right now, two games in, we are going to be allowing 60+ at the end of the season after playing conference opponents and ranked opponents.

We need to make sure we can freaking score, because our defense is not going to be the same as the last couple of years.

We should have signed Peat imo. He is the perfect replacement for Roberts.

you’re right about the offense needing to score but idk why this leaves out that last year we returned way more in our rotation the previous year and last time i checked we didn’t have basically 3 players sidelined with nagging injuries already lol

Were we supposed to turn down Cenac’s commitment (our highest rated in the modern era) in the hope that Peat signed later?

I actually wanted him over Cenac.

The understanding was that Peat was more ready but Cenac has the higher ceiling. That’s still the case and we’re literally only 2 games into the season.

We had an amazing season last yr.

However, Final Four we ran into (2) teams with size, 2 elite defenses. Duke & Florida. And had some issues scoring

Peat, would’ve been that low post threat. But what would Jojos role be offensively w/ Peat on the floor?

Essentially playing (2) 6’8" players, who play inside the arc. Tough as hell in the paint.

But, spacing issues possibly. Cenac, when he figures it out. Will be a big mismatch for us.

Arizona - Krivas & Awaka on Cenac

Keba Keita, Flory Bidunga on Cenac. Offensively i think he can bother those guys. Pulling them away from basket. Or if they stick a smaller player on Cenac, better matchup for Jojo

Lottery if he keeps this up. We will be portal hunting for a PG.

To your point Flemings makes his arrival in the ESPN draft big board

Cenac #7
Tugler #23
Flemings #37
Harwell #45
Uzan #55

Have we ever had so many players in the draft boards since Sampson arrived?

I think the most we had previously was three the year Marcus and Jarace got drafted because early on TA was getting some draft buzz.

Sharp at 89 as well, and he has a lot of time to help his stock.

We’ve reached #1 in three of the last four years :sunglasses:

If we lose all these players after this season, it’s going to be tough next year.

Yes, but if most of them make it to the NBA that will do wonders for our recruiting and portal acquisitions.

our past 7 seasons of dominance probably already does that and its preferable to not have completely start over lol

Yes we lose players every season but there’s usually a good core of seasoned players that return as well.

Definitely gone:
Sharp
Uzan
Jojo (he’s not coming back)
Walker
Cenac
Sakho

Possibly
Flemings
Harwell

The following potentially return:
Miller
McCarty
Jefferson
Lath
McFarland
*some of these players could potentially transfer
*also how many of these players potentially returning will be guys in the rotation? McCarty? Mercy?
*still early in the season and who knows how some of these guys will pan out and how much playing time they’ll get (if at all)

If Flemings and Harwell return that would definitely help things. Sure they can address some needs in the portal, and it looks like they might have a really good Freshmen class coming in (Diane, Holt, Alozie, ?). They’ll also have Jackson available.

Next yrs team could potentially be very light on guys who have been in the system, in the rotation from this season, heavy experience in the NCAA Tournament, and a few productive yrs in our system (guys who not just understand the culture but also have been big contributors on the court).

Lost JWan, LJ, Francis, Francis + Wilson from last yrs team, but like I said, we usually have a good core coming back (Eman, Los + JoJo). Next season? Only time will tell. Want to focus on this season and not look too far ahead.
