2025-2026 Houston Cougars Football

This guy is going to play as a true freshman. Looking forward to seeing him.

He had the best spring out of all the true freshmen

Waste of time lol

I’ve been critical in the past of Pete Mundo being anti the 9-12 schools.(BYU, Cincy, UCF, and Houston) I appreciate how much air time he put in Houston in this pod. Some of the others are acting like BYU is the only school with a 5 star athlete committed but Pete gives Houston credit.

This came across my feed today. I’d like to have a new version of it with Houston in the big 12. But it was a fun watch.

See, the prerequisite to that is UH having a good year in the Big 12.

Yeah I guess that’s true.

Go Coogs reposted Zeon Chriss’ tweet about running 22.8 MPH today. I had Google translate that for the 100 m and it is 9.81. Are we sure he is not going to be a WR or TE? At 6’3" 210 lbs., he needs to be on the field.

I hope that wasn’t in a school zone. :slightly_smiling_face:

Was that timed at a UH workout? I would like to see other times. Who has the UH football record?

Maybe Ryan M. knows.

Seriously, maybe a Taysom hill esque role? Not tight end, but receiver/wildcat/qb?

Perfect!

The check is in the mail.

Criss could certainly play RB or WB for us. We’ll see after camp opens.

Watched the Boogie Johnson and Mews interviews yesterday, just finished up the Latrell M. and Carlos Allen one. I can see why Fritz’s picked these 4 to represent us. These guys are awesome, very selfish and intelligent. I love what I’m hearing from the players and coaches, sounds like night and day from last year. A LOT more confidences around Houston’s locker room. Less than 2 months away….

Great stuff @PAinsworth512

Very nicely done !
Go Coogs !

Things I am focused on the first three games this year on offense:

Offensive Line. This was my first priority last year and the first game showed it was going to be a problem. I thought with continued reps, the OL would improve as the season progressed, and maybe it did, but it was clear after the season that the OL talent needed to be upgraded. UH has a rebuilt OL this year and has two non-conference games before playing their first conference game. If UH can run the ball effectively with the rebuilt line, it will help the passing game immensely. I am also looking at reducing unforced errors that hurt drives, e.g. holding, illegal motion and offside.
Quarterback. All indications are that Connor Weigman is the starter, with Zeon Chriss the backup, and Austin Carlisle third string. Chriss and Carlisle are very athletic and should be on the field in some capacity. Chriss has starting experience in the B12, which gives him the edge on the depth chart over Carlisle, but I will be watching if Carlisle is able to overtake him as #2 QB. If Chriss still looks uncomfortable at QB this year, I would consider a position change, to take advantage of his athleticism.
Passing Game. New QB and chemistry with receivers. The talent at QB and WRs is there. Are they on the same page? Is Weigman taking shots down field? Is UH utilizing the TE downfield? Personal pet peeve: I will be watching if receivers are blocking downfield.
Running Game. RB is one of UH’s deepest positions. Can Sanford and Sneed continue to be productive? How will Rice transfer Dean Connors be used? Burnette has a NFL body, but made too many mistakes last year as a true freshman. I want to see improvement on protecting the ball and blitz pick-up. D.J. Butler had limited appearances last year as a freshman but was productive when he ran the ball (16 rushes, 6.2 YPC).
