Some numbers to compare this season to the last 5.
Both KenPom and Barttorvik with Offense and Defense rankings
A 6 year run with an average overall rating of 2.8 is absolutely incredible.

Top 5 is in the mix to win the whole thing in any given year.
I doubt there’s another program in the country with that kind of run over the last 6 years straight.
UConn…?
Maybe, but they were 24-11 last year (second round exit) and 23-10 in 21-22 (first round exit, never ranked in top 15). 20-21 was weird, but they were just 15-8 in that season and lost in the first round, never ranked in the top 20.
So I doubt it.

I guess it’s nice to be the statistical champs… I’d sure like that trophy, though.
Doesn’t UConn typically play a much harder out of conference schedule than us…?
Do you think someone disagrees with that, lol
Their OOC is more difficult because their league outside of the top 3 is trash, hence
2025/2026 SOS UConn 51, Houston 21.
I think the Big East was exceptionally down this season… but that may be a trend that continues due to NIL.
They need Georgetown and Marquette to get back to form and Xavier to be solid.
Oh yeah… and Nova, too…
Gotta say, it was so nice to not really worry about free throws this year.
Yea, the church league is going to have to step it up in the NIL, I don’t know if their culture will allow that. Georgetown, Marquette, Creighton, what happened? If you look at the three that made it, UConn is a state flagship school, SJ is in NYC, Nova in Phillie. NIL will be tougher in the smaller market schools.
Man, having lights out 3-point shooters last year was so nice. I don’t think we will ever have a team that shoots anywhere near that well again lol. Sampson’s teams otherwise always seem to be right around 34%.
It’s interesting this team ended up being so “mediocre” (by elite team standards) on offense and borderline elite on defense by the end of the year when we were all convinced it would be the other way around given our personnel/how we played in OOC. I remember a lot of people saying this had the potential to be our best offensive team ever at the beginning of the year. Ended up being a pretty standard Sampson team with #4 KP defense and offense in the teens (ultimately being the worst or second worst offense of the last 6 seasons… a lot of that is on Uzan’s brutal regression.)
Ended up 4th in KenPom and 15/4. Barttorvik 5th 15/3
