A depressing set of statistics. Depressing because they seem so typical of the Whitting era. 5 runs allowed, but only two earned, as the team commits two errors. Eight walks and a wild pitch by the pitching group. Zero successful stolen bases but 1 caught stealing. 9 runners left on base. Result: team loses a game in which they outhit opposition 7 to 3.
I will take no insult if anyone thinks I am playing fast and loose with stats (keeping in mind Mark Twainās admonition about stats), because I have not, for several years now, been following the team closely enough to defend any conclusion. I just happened to look at the box score for this game and, as I said, depressing.

Games like that will happen. They just happen to TW teams a lot more often than to good teams.

Horrible base running.
Base runner thrown out at third trying to go from 1st to 3rd on a double play ball. No outs at the time.
Base runner thrown out at home. Men on second and third with no outs and goes on contact with a ground ball.
Wind blowing out like crazy, ball is flying out of the park. There are at least three home runs that I know of, maybe four. Logged on late.
