2027 Centennial

THE YEAR 2027 QUICKLY APPROACHES OUR HUMBLE BUT GREAT UNIVERSITY. THE YEAR OF ITS CENTENNAIL. 100 HISTORIC YEARS

From us rising back to the top of the athletic hierarchy, to becoming an academic and research powerhouse oh how everything has changed.

In Tempore for Our Houston University!

Recently there was a State of the University Address @Cullen posted in academic excellence (Coogfans: State of the University- 2025, UH Webiste: 2025 State of the University | President | University of Houston) going over research, trends, challenges, personal stories, construction etc. Showing the plan to become an even more prominent flagship among Texas and US universities.

I intend to share some architectural and constructions plans for the universities upcoming Centennial!

First off starting with the new buildings (Link to source: Sneak Peek of New UH Buildings | University of Houston)

Centennial Hall - 1,000 bed freshman housing (pushes UH pass the 10k bed’s on campus mark) replacing the parking lot near Cougar Woods and Fred J. Heyne building. Scheduled Completion - 2027.

Medical Research Building - Replacing a dirt grove near the Fertitta College of Medicine building. ~70k square feet at a budget of $77.5 million. Scheduled Completion - 2027

Innovation Hub: 3-4 story building with a projected budget of $83.4 million. It’s replacing the old College of Technology Annex. Scheduled Completion - 2028

Hobby School of Public Affairs: 3 story building with a projected budget of $52 million at ~45k square feet. Set to replace the parking lot and part of the old Law Building (need to confirm the actual site). Scheduled Completion - 2027

Finally going over the Master Plan along with Centennial Plan 3d Overview.

What buildings are going up in the parking lot across the street from the baseball stadium? I assume at least one is a parking garage?

Outstanding.

Looks too small to be a garage, the garage looks like it’ll be where the intramural fields are to the north. Looks like a good place for dorms.

I thought the intramurals fields would not be taken over.

I believe it going to be an extension of the Moores School of Music. There has been a building there going back multiple versions of master plan.

Excited to see the Hobby School given their own building. That’s the first bone they’ve thrown CLASS in a while.

That’s the parking lot

The intramural fields will not be taken over. The new building will be on the parking lot. I bet that building will be a parking garage since the parking lot across the street will be filled with academic buildings.

what is getting built next to the stadium on the corner of Scott and Wheeler?

Parking garage would be my guess.

Anywhere you see a big rectangle or square on the campus master plan map, it is most likely a parking garage.

The parking garages will be valuable to campus. But where will people tailgate?
