A parent’s nightmare - prayers needed

I’m usually not the guy to publicly ask for prayer, but if any situation asks for it, this one does.

A friend of ours has 2 sons. Both kids are friends of my son. 3 years ago, the youngest who was 10 or 11 at the time passed away from a severe seizure. The oldest son is 15 now. He is my son’s mentor in marching band. This boy went to a rock climbing gym with his father this weekend. I don’t know any details other than he stopped breathing for 15 minutes. He was pronounced dead, then amazingly enough, took a breath. He’s been in the hospital on a breathing tube. Last night, we got encouraging news that they were able to reduce the amount of oxygen needed. This morning, he took a turn for the worse. He now has minimal brain activity and is starting to have organ failure.

I just can’t imagine the horror these parents are going through with the prospects of losing both of their children at such a young age.

If you pray, please pray for this family. If you don’t pray, positive thoughts help too.

As a parent I cannot imagine a worse scenario. Definitely pray for them.

The boy is improving. His condition is still critical, but trending to stable. They are starting to evaluate any long term issues. Without going into too many details, since his heart and breathing stopped for a while, there will be some neurological hurdles.

I haven’t updated everybody. The young man survived and is doing remarkably well. It’s a crazy story. His story has been reported on local Fox a couple of weeks ago and KPRC last night.

The family is close to running out of insurance and still needs some help.
