AAC Hoops! 2022-23 season

Honestly feel bad for that fanbase

Pitino, did some dumb, idiotic stuff. But hes was a HOF coach. They had a culture.

Chris Mack, not figuring it out there, was really surprising after he tore it up at Xavier

Unfortunately, Kenny Payne , not good. You’re beating a dead cat with this start to the season

Dreadful

I got Memphis at 8-5 record headed in to conference play. They’ll prolly beat TAMU, but lose to Auburn, Ol miss and Bama.

Temple down 31-27 to LaSalle in the 2nd half

Texas A&M beat SMU 83-64.

Tulane down 8 to Fordham with 4 mins left
AAC sucks again

Not surprising. Their coach not only doesn’t stress rebounding but apparently doesn’t spend too much time on defense either

Only 9 turnovers for Fordham. 84 pts.

Gotta be able to guard. Tulane not living up to the hype

At home. Fordham was 286th in AdjO coming into this game

So much for thinking Tulane and Temple were gonna take a leap after they overachieved in conference play last season

Tulane. What a disappointment so far. I know Cook was out for a couple of games, but my goodness.

I know losing Davis would have them taking a step back but I doubt they’d be that bad lol

At least we are in much better shape to run the table in conference play bc we might not get any Q1 games after UVA đŸ«Ł

i spoke on this earlier
there defense is bad for any non aac teams

they play zone, and cant defemd the 3 at all
the aac is a defensive league (in part from teams trying to build rosters that can compete with us and previously cincy), we arent a good shooting league
so they dont have to worry about teams raining 3s on them
but out of conference most leagues are built arounf offense and shooting

thats why they look good in conference but always terrible out of conference

I didn’t know he was still playing, and no I don’t feel sorry for him.

Jackson State was winless. Ouch.

Temple beat VCU.

Also, Oral Roberts just beat Tulsa by 11.

they had some touted players in the portal but every single one was a flop

what i expected from smu

  • 6’3 nutall (southland POY, 2x all-league- ready to come out of davis shadow- in 1st team aac kinda way)
  • 6’3 phelps- former mr basketball in texas - as a glue guy
  • 6’7 williamson - former McDonalds all-american, to have grimes like impact
  • 6’9 Efe Odigie- 1st team all sunbelt big
  • 7’0 xavier forster- former top 100 4star that can shoot

bench

  • 6’4 Ricardo Wright - 15pt transfer from marist
  • 6’'8 Stefan Todorović - 4star sharp shooter
  • 6’8 Keon Ambrose-Hylton - top 100 4star bama transfer pf

on paper that looks formidable, if they could have made it work

reality-
foster, wright and hylton get almost no real PT

  • 6’3 nutall - doing 10 per on horriible efficiency
  • 6’3 phelps - who account for 40-50% of their offense, as a driver- poor shooter (note he isnt fast)
  • 6’4 jalen smith- zero offense, put up no stats, but supposed to be glue guy
  • 6’7 willamson - only takes about 7 shots a game, despite 30+ minutes, mostly open layups - does what roberts does for us
  • 6’9 Efe Odigie -35% fg% despite only trying to score in the post (horrific)

they the have one of the worst offensive rotation ive ever seen
they are reliant on a driver (who cant shoot) to score 25+ for them to win games

It is fair to state that Tulane till now has been total disappointment. Just opposite of their football team.

Memphis beat Ole Miss. Good win for them. Announcers talking about how it’s going to be good games when we play them. I hope we beat them 3 times this year!
