An actual distrubance in the force

I did not list the entire GDP calculation. Merely pointed out that we have a loss on imports

No need to explain Tucson as it was obvious. We’ve got a handful of posters here that just love to b$&@% about things.

I mean I think we call agree that we’ve got freshman/High School macroeconomics somewhat understood or at least the equation.

Yeah if the import number is no longer negative that isn’t a bad thing, unless you know it completely f’s the C part of the equation. I’ll give everyone a super cool hint which one is a bigger factor in that equation.

Pst…pst…here is largely unknown secret. We have, for many decades, and continue to have, the largest GDP in the world. We don’t have a “negative GDP”.
The (X-M) component may be negative, but it doesn’t make the GDP negative.
So we have not been “ripped off”.

Imports aren’t inherently bad or losses. We buy things all the time in our personal lives that we don’t want to make. Same is true for countries.

That doesn’t mean we don’t want to build anything or provide any services but some are over indexing on trade deficits.

They are just repeating the talking points to rationalize it as directed by the mother ship/echo chamber they listen to.

Lets sèe how bad its gotten

Even some of the poorest states in the U.S., like Mississippi, had higher average disposable income than Europeans, according to the Bureau of Economic Analysis. Mississippi, the poorest state, had an average of $42,762, still higher than the majority of European countries, expect Luxembourg.

Oh the horrors

Don’t you realize that going to the grocery store and buying milk is a net negative of your RTCOOG Domestic Product?! You could produce that milk yourself at home. /s

Boy are you one to talk. No need to visit MSNBC with you posting over here.

Let’s not go down that road please.

Also, we have a some that flag everything they disagree with whether the poster broke any rules or not. I view that as the little boy that cried wolf and I have a hard time giving it any credibility. Please chill with those constant largely unnecessary flags. They accomplish nothing and suck up mods’ time.

You are welcome, I watch Fox, CNN and PBS too. I watched two right wing people spin the GDP news by making the same argument and citing imports and leaving out the rest of the calculation.

Yes, there was a surge in imports due to the fear of tariffs but in modern times we have imported more than we have exported, but you can’t deny consumers are getting worried and are already starting to spend less as they have a fear of inflation and a looming recession.

In the calculation of the US GDP when you look at the percentages of each variable. C- Consumption accounts for 65-70% of the number, Investment 15-17%, Government spending 16-17% and the import export calculation makes up about 3% plus or minus a bit for each variable. It is why consumer confidence is key.

I have no issue with your posts. Just good natured ribbing.

Meanwhile, TSMS is now opening a third factory in AZ. The first one is now fully operational, the second one is doing testing, and they are breaking ground on the third one. Wow.

Some posters can’t help themselves.

Omitted here is the fact that our USA has more consumer spending and less Govetnment spending than what you would find in Europe and elsewhere.

Then observe that we have the highest per capita GDP in the world.

Free market capitalism works. However the Nations that massively export to The USA do not much practice it. We reward that by buying their stuff, thus keeping their Overlords in power.

Our worldwide political power will increase when we export more, import less.

And GDP per capita will increase more.
