Please no.

A Casino…?

Let’s please not turn Houston into Vegas. That’s not what we are.

I dig casinos and gambling.

As much as I like all the money and conference realignment support that Abbott and Patrick have given UH, their lack of support for casino gambling in Texas is REALLY stupid.

That’s a lot of jobs, and a lot of potential tax dollars being lost across the border to Louisiana.

In general, I wonder as gambling/casinos become legal in more states will there be an oversaturation issue and some need to close? Like why go to Lake Charles if you have a casino on Kirby or even in Galveston?

That’s the whole point.

Why are we losing jobs and tax revenues across the border to LA?

Why not get our own casinos and keep the jobs and money at home!

I would be fine with turning it into a Casino

→ IF

We develop that entire area into a formal district with Bars, Hotels, etc… and not the slab of concrete and box stores it currently is right now

Any place you have casinos…you have that as well.

Not necessarily true. Stopped at a casino in Oklahoma just north of the Texas border and it was just the casino really and nothing else really around.

Didn’t we vote to tear that money pit down?

Nope, we did not.

Gee.

I’ve gone to casinos in several states where, either right beside the casino, or, in some cases, integrated into the casino, were several different restaurants.

Even the Alabama-Coushatta electronic game only casino north of Houston has a couple of eateries integrated into it.

Common misperception of many Harris County voters :frowning:

Voters really don’t seem to know what they are voting on or fail
to read and/or comprehend those items on the ballots. We’ve covered
this one here before.

Let’s vote on it then

Abbott and Patrick have consistently blocked bringing casino gambling votes in the Texas legislature.

If Parker thinks that’s a good idea, then she should put it together instead of suggesting that TF spend his money to compete with his own venture in Lake Charles.

I agree, let her raise the money. Go to her alums

I doubt that Tilman would mind. In fact, he’d probably welcome the opportunity to expand his casino enterprises into this state.

Too bad we have issues with state government getting in the way.

A major analysis he would have to make is how it would affect his earnings at The Golden Nugget in Lake Charles. I’m guessing not much due to the other amenities offered by the GN.

Could he turn it into “The Golden Dome South”? Of course, the Texas Legislature would have a very large say in the matter.
