If you want to chastise an odd man with Aspergers for inappropriate behavior, have add it. If you refuse to buy his product because you think he is a turd, I fully support that. The stories of his behavior at work definitely leads you to the conclusion he isn’t a wonderful guy to be around.

Agree, this is a pointless exercise. This thread is about antisemitism, not whether Musk is a Nazi (which no one has said as far as I can see).

That’s an excuse. He’s the richest guy in the world and has a lot of power, not some rando on the street. He doesn’t have free range to do things like make light of the holocaust.

I am not certain that he is, but he seems to cozy up to political groups that include nazis,re-platformed nazis on twitter, posts and likes antisemitic posts on social media, he believes in eugenics, has said race mixing evil and those who are proud to be neo-Nazis cheer him as one of them.
So, I should just ignore what I see from him and those who embrace his behavior. He never denounced Nazis in the days that followed and just called it propaganda. He has had chances to clear it up, but instead used nazi phrases to troll and joke.
Why should he get a pass because of Asperger’s?

He shouldn’t. I know people with Asperger’s and though they see the world differently they don’t spout racists things. Citing Asperger’s is rationalizing and giving him cover.
One can look through this thread and see that I initially gave him the benefit of the doubt. So it’s not like I’m being irrational about this because of who he is.
His subsequent tweets were really ugly. And he never actually denied it which he certainly could have.

It is a spectrum disorder. I have brother with Aspergers and like Musk he is a super smart engineer with a photographic memory. As smart as he is, he says crazy azz things and in social situations. They are great at task oriented things, but they shouldn’t be given a public political role. I think this administration has figured that out and I am really sure the Chief of Staff is done with him.

Elon isn’t stupid even in social settings. He’s just become an untouchable character, and he is able to test the waters without consequences. He wouldn’t have said any of these types of things in the years that Tesla was still trying to breakthrough into the market.
Again, I’m not saying this from a “political angle” in any way, but as I’ve said numerous times, the current administration does not support EV subsidies. Tesla, even without EV subsidies, already dominates the EV market which is obviously to Elon’s advantage to continue supporting administrations that do not want EVs to scale.
Elon’s power is via Tesla. If Tesla ever falls or at the very least, loses control of the EV market, then his power is going to deminish which means he has to fall back in line.
Elon simply took over a platform in order to help a particular campaign but did so under the disguise of “protecting free speech”, and now he has gone so far off the deep end because he has no day to day interaction with normal people outside of the users on X

My brother has a wife that helps him navigate social settings. I have no idea who helps Elon or if anyone. But yeah he should apologize for the stupid Nazi jokes, I am sure he thought it was funny. But if you have experience with people with Aspergers they simply have an absence of social cues and have no ability to read a room. Things they find funny….my brother finds references to medieval books and philosophers funny. Mid conversation he will reference Thomas Aquinas’ Summa Theologica word for word and find humor in it. His wife is a saint.

Your’re giving him a pass for being on the spectrum but you are ignoring that he is making it clear, he likes Nazi ideas. He literally like them on social media. That’s not social awkwardness, that’s hitting a button because you agree with what you read. You don’t go give a speech to Neo Nazis because of a disorder. Wake up and stop making excuses

I am no fan of Elon Musk and I want him gone out of politics. I want him gone out of a lot of things. I suspect all of this will make a dent in Tesla sales.
