If he did that in Texas, he would be known as the late visiting professor. The security at my synagogue would have fired back.
More details in this articleâŠhe lives close to the synagogue.
Shooting rats and may have broken a car window. Is he the worst shot ever or was that on purpose? Or are the rats so bad there they crawl on cars?
Sounds like he was cooperating at first and not surprised he refused to be detained on a street by security guards if he thought he was doing nothing wrong. Off their property they probably canât do that legally.
They should have called the cops from the very beginningâŠmaybe they did and weâre waiting⊠I wouldnât have approached him withOUT* a drawn gun.
*Edited to what I originally meant to type
In TX you can definitely get a âdeadly conduct - discharge of a firearmâ charge for doing something so reckless.
Is a pellet gun considered a deadly weapon legally speaking? (Genuine question)
YES!!!
BB guns as well.
IF (and yes, this is an issue at trial), if it is used in a manner capable of causing death or serious bodily injury.
I remember years ago there was a juvenile case in FBC where one teen shot another with a pellet gun; the bullet penetrated the other kidâs abdomen.
Kid survived, but it could have been deadly.
It you deliberately shoot someone with a pellet or BB gun, you could be charged with Agg Assault Deadly Weapon.
Not antisemitism per synagogue leaders ?
Larry Kraus and Benjamin Maron, the synagogueâs president and executive director, wrote that the synagogueâs leadership âhave no reason to believe this was an antisemitic eventâ in a Sunday morning email to Temple Beth Zion affiliates, which was obtained by The Crimson.
This is a weird story âŠ
After hearing two âloud shotsâ fired, the security guards looked up the street and saw Gouvea holding the pellet rifle.
Air rifles are not loud by any means. I have and use both CO2 and pumped air ones.
As to hitting a car window, they do have enough energy to ricochet when hitting
something. Personal experience with that involving my own vehicle.
Definitely deserved to be detained for using the air rifle in that area it seems. And
then in the original article the temple leaders say it wasnât antisemitism.
Lots of questions. Also, some people call squirrels rats.
Ok, so maybe this was a case of poor judgement.
Sad
Itâs almost as if the administration cares more about Israel than the actual Jewish community
Yes, unfortunately the antisemitism is a cancer in both parties and often ignored by those who can do something about it other than to point out how bad âthe other guysâ are. Beyond that, I still want to try to keep this thread as politics free (or I guess politics neutral) as it can be.
Yeah, this isnât humorous or funny Halloween float. Be as bad as
having a float with a black corpse hanging from a rope from a tree.
Iâm all for freedom of expression, even when itâs in extremely bad taste.
But no decent person, who respects others, should be doing this sort
of thing. America just doesnât work if we donât respect others that are different
from us in race, religion, sexuality, or political ideology.
OMG. Iâm truly EMBARRASSED to see that. The local Catholic diocesan Bishop should investigate and press the schoolâs board to fire most of that schoolâs administration.
