I know he is new (2 years in) to college football but he has 11 years as a head coach at Westfield with an 114-27 record, has recent ties to Houston high schools, and has a good knowledge base on the offensive side of the ball from Herman. Any thoughts of giving Corby Meekins some consideration? Of course this is assuming Herman is not cleaning house like Sumlin did.
No.
Just out of curiosity, why?
For the money we’re about to pay our next head coach, we can do much, much better than a position coach from a G5 school.
I get that. I guess I am concerned/overthinking about recruiting and keeping some of the recruits that we have. I understand we can bring in a big name but not sure what they can do as far as playing the game with the high school coaches in the state of Texas.
Yeah, you’re probably overthinking it. Recruiting is important, but it’s better to have a guy that can coach but not recruit rather than the opposite. Recruiting ain’t mean nothin’ if you ain’t winnin’.
True. I just see how much having Ed Oliver helped our D-line. However, you are right coaching up talent is key not necessarily the talent we bring in.
