Anybody using BlueSky?

There’s supposedly a move there by many from X.

It’s a lot like X, except that you have more space on your profile for Bio info.

BlueSky is mainly a response to Elon Musk’s platforming of right wing echo chambers. That’s what I get from it.

Social Media should not be foundated in politics, but that’s unfortunately where we are in western society unfortunately.

Best thing I did for myself was to just stay away from it.

I miss the days when Twitter was hardly political at all

Heard from several who have joined. Essentially an echo chamber for the left as much as X is for the right.

I use X for sports and music feeds. If an account I follow goes political, I unfollow them. Pretty simple. Really keeps most of the nonsense away.

idk, during the runup to the election, my feed was full of promoted and unblockable political stuff, especially from people that I didn’t follow who appeared on my Suggested feed.

It works a bit differently. On Bluesky, when I click on Following, I get everything loaded with newest at the top. No algorithm making choices (so far as I can tell). Also, no ads. How will it be monetized?

From ZDNet: For creators, Bluesky will enable monetization through developer-created content , such as custom feeds, with Bluesky taking a small cut.

Yea, I joined recently. Waiting for more people I follow on x to join. Like for instance UH.

Everyone I heard say that is typically known for far right views. Though, that doesn’t mean it isn’t accurate. The main things is it doesn’t have the algorithm that x does and I can avoid the neo Nazi and white nationalist content.

Yep. Way less jackholes so far. Trying to keep my feed as sports related as possible. But you know me…sometimes I can’t resist.

Find me here: @billakers.bsky.social

I’ll be staying on X because that’s where most of the sports accounts I follow still call home.

Pretty broad brush stroke there. And wrong in these cases. The people I heard from are more left than right……that’s why they left X.

I was just talking about who I’ve heard it from, is all. Also seeing chatter of various far right figures going there, and (intentionally, in my opinion) saying stuff that gets them banned right away. They seem to be treating that as a badge of honor, though they are contributing to making it an echo chamber in essence.

If you mean bluesky, I haven’t seen a lot of far right stuff thus far.

Yes I did.

I saw a lot more leading up to the election. Much better know, maybe by unfollowing many accounts, the algorithm has cleaned up my feed as well?

Haven’t seen it.

In fact, I see more left wing that right wing content, which I assume is due to dissatisfaction with the Left over Elon Musk’s association with the winner of the last election.

Threads seemed really bot-ey to me. So many similar posts I got tired of it in few days.

Aren’t we obligated to not write/argue about…
One poster, another poster and another are having opinions about…
Why is this allowed?

Why do you think that is about you?
