AP #17 ranking to end the year

The exciting part will be staying ranked in 2022, starting with UTSA on September 3rd.

13th Pitt lost last night with its 3rd loss so may be a candidate to pass up, though voters will give them credit for losing to a 11-2 team ranked 11th.

Wake took care of business so they’ll be ahead of UH.

17th Iowa is the last team remaining to pass up - to get to 17th for UH (or 16th if Houston passes up Pitt).

6th.

Iowa lost should get us 17th

Im guessing they will move 22 Kentucky ahead of UH for beating Iowa

Kentucky is #25 in the AP Poll. We’re #21 so that should be enough of a cushion to prevent them jumping us. It’ll be close tho.

Man, just 20 points from a top 15 finish. Places 14-17 were very compressed. If just 12 voters had ranked us just one spot higher (and 12 just lowered their rankings for Clemson and Wake Forest just one spot) we would have been #14.

If we could establish ourselves for the next 5 years as a top 15-20 program, I will be happy. You have to establish in the public’s mind that you are in that company. Then you get the benefit of the doubt like Sampson’s basketball program does. Then you start the season in that basic ranking which is a good place to start if you have a magical season.

Second best team in Texas just in like in basketball last year.

Baylor athletics has really done an amazing job.
