Years ago when I took my first sales job, my boss asked if I played golf. I answered honestly that I did not. Then he asked if I drink beer. I answered honestly that I did do that. He said, “ok, then, you can play golf with us then!”
It’s easy to tell if a candidate is qualified by their resume. It takes a little more vetting to see if they fit the culture.

Resumes can be faked, I know of many that have been, but a conversation can spot that. However, when you know the guy’s background matches his resume before he shows up, you just need to check culture fit.
