I’m just saying we should close the stadium if we’re going to embrace some type of developmental league mentality.
And it’s not to say that today’s new CFB is not challenging, it is extremely challenging. Why do you think Saban walked away? But that’s why today’s coaches are paid millions. There are so many things they must do besides coach to be successful. Most won’t succeed in doing what must be done, but a few will. Hopefully CWF is one of those.
Sounds like a losing mentality if ive ever heard one.
Not into donating to div 2 teams.
Yah the TP and NIL aren’t new. Those changes went into place when we were in the American. Now there’s significantly less programs above us. There’s also way more programs that we can poach from. There’s a reason why our recruiting is at an ATH. And it’s only going up from here.
Yea, For Coach Prime. His coming for Sanford and one or two more players next season.
Our recruiting is doing just fine. The trend line is moving up. If guys leave through the portal, they will be replaced. As for Colorado, they’ve got a fat L coming to them next year when they come to town.
We get into the p4 and now we want to be the bestest darn AAA club in all the land? No.
Sure we’re gonna lose some players, but we’re not gonna embrace that as our identity.
Agree Ryan. We have our QB coming but folks are going to have to have patience.
Barring injuries he should see the field a lot and be our leader in the future.
He is much more suited for a Fritz type offense than anyone we have now although Merkel could make some noise
I’m just looking at the reality of CFB today. I don’t strive to be a AAA farm team, but for the near future we are. Face the facts. Michigan is willing to throw $10M+ NIL money at a top LSU QB commit. Do you see UH ever at that level? Not unless we can come up with about 20 more Fertittas. Well, that’s what we’re up against. We have a unique niche. We can excel if we take advantage of it
A good number of the players left because of the coaching change.
No doubt that plays a part, but massive NIL paydays will be a bigger and bigger factor going forward. The new reality
This is the reason I have stopped caring about football.
If we are still in the AAC then we would be like PSV or Porto.
But since we are in a power conference, we are now like Everton, Bayer Leverkusen, Lyon, Atletic Bilbao, or Atalanta.
Teams who have more money but not enough to compete for league titles or the Champions League.
Farm Club? This just seems to be another excuse in a long line of excuses for our football program.
Exactly, look no further than CKS. Many in the Coaching world said that he was washed up, his best days were behind him. Is our BBall program a farm club too? You could have asked the same question shortly after CKS took over. It took him a while to turn our ship around and how many players are on a BBall vs football roster?
I don’t think all of our good players will leave after 2 years. The top tier schools don’t need to build their teams with transfer players.
Horrible thread.
Do something to make a fair playing field for the sports, not just agree to play second tier. Tell the ADs that less playoff spots is unacceptable. QUIT WATCHING the SEC and B1G games. Attend the Big 12 games, etc…Support a spending limit per program, etc…
I agree with all you posted, but this is the easiest way to make a dent.
It’s easy for me because I don’t give a flip about any SEC or Big10 team. My time’s too scarce to watch teams I don’t care about.
Yep. I find it amazing how many people I talk with that mention how they do not like the media money discrepancy, then a few minutes later talk about having watched an Alabama game when not a SEC school fan.
I always have believed that the moment UH started looking too much into retaining a coach, this program has taken a hit. Before we used to have the mentality of hiring the next big up & coming coach and have him for a couple of years and move on to the next. Worked well with Sumlin & Herman. Had a chance to hire Lane Kiffin and we went for Major Applewhite instead and it’s been a downfall ever since…
