Astros-Minors

Not crazy about Tredwell.

Pure projection pick, and big guys seem to have injuries….a lot.

Wonder if they would have taken Gelof if he had not gone the pick before.

Brice Matthews already # 4.
5 draft picks in Top 38.
All but 10 guys AA or lower.
Other than Salazar & Whitley these guys should get a look/ another look soon.

Luis Baez -19 years old has been up with Fayetteville for a week or so and just mashing….He very well could be a superstar.

Still early but at 19 he is very impressive……

On another note, Fangraphs cracks me up sometimes….Salazar #22 and Whitley #23 :grimacing: I wouldn’t put either in the top 40.

I also saw on Twitter today that Miguel Palma—C and only 21 will be coming off the Injured list today.

As a 20 year old he was hitting over .300 with some power in Asheville ( High A). Kid is about to blow up on the scene very soon.

The first list is pretty out there……completely ignored some guys that are easy top 10.

The middle list looks old….if it is brand new it’s a bit sloppy….Joe Perez #11?

But thanks for posting.

Since I’m home doing nothing maybe I’ll do a top 20.

I know a few others have enough knowledge of the system to make educated list as well.

Disclaimer——Funk, you can’t put Dubon on it.

“enough for the Astros to spend a 7th round pick on him in 2021 (despite not having a 1st or 2nd rounder and leaving a 4th rounder unsigned, Click made some nice picks that year).”

Forrest Whitley
“Pitching prospects are among the most likely types of players to bite you in this sort of way and Forrest Whitley is a classic example. There was a time not that long ago where Whitley was considered one of the absolute best pitching prospects in all of baseball.”

I agree on Whitley. But who would have taken Hensley? The Fujiama Pelicans?

Time for the astros to rent another apartment in Santo Domingo.

Loperfido is really good….I would not argue if Brown liked him more than Gilbert.

Keeping a close eye on recent draftees….watch the HS kids closely….Heuzo is really good….Jaworsky has tools for days and a nice start.

Bush the JC catcher is going to surprise.

After the season I’ll write something up on these guys for anyone interested.

Huezo just hit his first HR….kid is still 17 until November….easy 4 tools…if the hit tool comes with him look out!

Always appreciate your insights. Is the lack of LH pitchers something that is league-wide?

Cool….

Thank you very much sir.

Yeah, LH starting pitching is always scarce….I think other organizations have more in their system than we do but a lot of teams are in the same boat.

We actually have a couple I am high on….Colton Gordon who did really well in AA and just moved up to Sugarland and had a good start.

Another we drafted last year Dombrowski looks promising but is a ways off.

There are others but those are the two that standout to me off the top of my head.

I think some organizations are going to take a certain number of lefties, even if they’re not the highest rated on their board. The Astros don’t typically do that, and we’ve generally struck out on the minor leaguers and bullpen guys we’ve picked up in trades.

With the way our lineup hits lefties, though, I’m kind of glad other pitching staffs have more of them.

Keep the positive waves coming!

Saw him play against Ridge Point in the state playoffs and he did not disappoint. Slick fielder with a great arm,
In fact many thought he would be drafted as a pitcher but he had some arm problems and didn’t pitch in the RP series.
I think he was committed to Arkansas. I was shocked that he went to Nebraska

Matthews hit his first professional HR last night——WAY out of the park.

Three HR’s for Leon tonight at Sugarland——I think he may get a September call up.

Julks still struggling. .176 in Sugaa.

This is quite complicated. They have Astros farm last right now.
I’m not stressed over it.
The young future is doing well in Htown & they have time to rebuild.
How many teams have a future of Brown, Diaz, France?

Not worried either….

Also, last years draft still has a lot of talent….

And there are some young international arms that are really starting to impress at the two “A” level teams.

Astros Minor League Pitcher of the week.
Ronel Blanco-- 7 scoreless inns, 2- hits, w 8 K’s in one start. :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Someone remind me, please: Have we served our draft pick penalty in full for the “cheating” penalty? Are we back to our full allotment of draft picks? Aside from what we may have used in trades or whatnot.
