Agree fully. Some are expecting way too much from a kid four games into his senior year.
I know this, I loved Carlisle last year when his biggest offer was UNLV, and he has improved quite a bit IMO.
But expecting him to come in here to lead us to a Big 12 title might be over the top.
I have said all along that Fritz could bring in a starter from the portal and let young Carlisle come along at a slower pace as a backup.
But I have a feeling Coach has a plan already tack.
Is he playing against high quality competition? I have no idea I know nothing about Houston area high school football
Solid competition!!!
They just played three highly ranked teams in a row and still have fourth ranked Hightower in district. So yes the competition is top notched. But to be honest, the district competition is mainly just Hightower,
Ridge Point once again will be a top playoff teamā¦
The likelihood of getting a quality quarterback out of the portal is doubtful with the NIL. Someone posted an article where Ruhle at Nebraska was complaining because of the amount of money a quality quarterback in the portal can demand.
If he canāt Carlisle will at least battle for the starting positionā¦
Why run down a guy that played for UH years ago?
Whatever ādudeā.
I donāt expect him to lead us to a Big 12 title as a freshmanā¦.but IMO he compares well with Avery Johnson.
He got in several games as a frosh and now as a 19 year old has taken it to the next level for K.St.
I would not put a scenario like that out of reach for Carlisle.
Excellent comparison Pollardā¦I am trying to be conservative when talking about Carlisle. But I truly think the kid has a great future at UH. He is fast, smart and has a great grasp of the game.
He can beat you so many ways. He has filled out nicely and his 5-11 height does not bother me one iota.
Missed his game Saturday but he had another great game against a highly ranked Bridgeland team.
Will be watching Friday night against Elkins. Like I have said before, the district is not the best around, but Elkins has a blue-chip quarterback also and Hightower is ranked above the Panthers.
Avery Johnson was such a great point guard as well for Los Spurs!
Not much of a coach though.
Yet he still holds the program record for most TDs be a freshman QB.
We need a fresh start at QB and I think our best option is going to be to start a true freshman. He can start for a couple of season and then weāll decide between him and Henderson to start in '27.
We seem to have 4 backup QBās who will return in 2025. This includes the injured McMickle who looked good during Spring Ball.
Carlisle will compete against the existing 4 next August. And he will be the only QB who has not gone thru 2 Spring trainings under Fritz.
Though not impossible it seems very difficult for Carlisle to beat out all the existing guys with only August practices to prove himself.
Butā¦if he enrolls in January and participates in Spring ballā¦he could be our starter.

This kid has got the juice
That is a very good arm for a high school kid with a great set of wheels. On several of the runs, the DBs had good angles on him, but he was past the point of intersect before they arrived.
Running track last helped a bit. Also he has been getting out of bounds this year when being pinned on th sideline. Last two years he was known to try and run over the enemy
My buddy went to the games last week and said he looks like a combination of Case Keenum and Greg Ward. His highlight reel is eye popping.
So Johnny Manziel then.
Heās starting next year. Heās just too good.
