I watched all 3 arizona games, i feel very confident stating they finish top 3 in the league
positives:
- postions 2 -5 are dominant in ISO defensive- even the backup are great defensively
- their center (and back up center) are basically auto points when given post iso
- interesting note krivas was shootng 3s and making them, ran a ton of 2 7ft center lineups (note the 5th year PF didnt play)
- ivan looked like an all-american in all 3 games (leading scorer in all 3, 20pts in the 1st half alone vs ukraine, 30 points in the last game) - showed a ton of passion see clip
- best offensive pg theyve had in arizona in a while
those traits alone make me confident in having them top 3
to go from top 3 > league title > national title-- what they need to work on
- team defense- basic picks was eating them up!! leading to many open shots … need to figure out pick rotations, when to help etc… but its august
- for a 6’5 guys their PG is not a good defender - not physical at all, gives his defenders too much room… the space he gives negates his size … they had him run ball stopper on Defense - not a lot of stopping , he has to improve or they have to hide him, and have holt run ball stopper on D…with his size his defense is fixable
- Holt has to be btter on offense… he was dominant physically and on Defense… but had no touch what so ever on offense, brick city all 3 games, no soft touch even on the layups… but its august and he’s a freshmen
sidenote: when we do our next international trip, i hope its like this… every game was vs high level euroleague level team, all streamed, all competitive … i dont want the 1 national team and then 3 team the local high schools in houston could beat, and then we only get streams from the terrible teams
Ohio judge has been very clear that if the NCAA even insinuates punishing the players or teams, there would be consequences.
UC will 100% play if they get him eligible next month

1 Ohio judge doesn’t have that kind of power. What consequences could a state judge impose that the NCAA would actually care about, that couldn’t just be appealed to a more favorable court?
Goodman also said this morning that multiple NCAA committee members noted theyd incorporate use of 5th-year players, if deemed ineligible, by simply removing them from the field.

Lol… those are just threats from NCAA, there is a reason it was done anonymously. The Ohio court absolutely has the power to make Players included in the Ohio lawsuit eligible playing for Ohio schools. Attorneys actually think State cases have a better chance than federal cases.
MJ Collins was eligible prior to the Colorado blanket ruling.
All we need is to one state case to hold up and those players to be deemed eligible, then other schools will push the NCAA to create a blanket eligibility so as to create fairness.
But the state cases will be what pushes these forward. And a lot of eyes will be on the ohio court in late September
im not prediciting if it goes 1 way or another in the final decision…
my point is the if its not globally finalized (the ncaa has accepted whatever the decision and isnt fighting anymore)
many teams will be cautious of playing 5th years…
arizona had its 5th year with them in the international trip… and held him out…
and a 2nd point was about the retaliation from the ncaa for those who used those players while it was still being decided
state judges have no power… every single year state legistors threaten consequences when their state teams are left out of the tournement for what they feel is unjust reasons… the ncaa doesnt care
Kentucky just landed a player from Missouri on a 5 for 5 ruling. The more blue bloods jumping in to grab players the better it is for other schools.
If the football season started today, multiple players in the Louisiana lawsuit would be eligible to play.
The ncaa can’t punish a school for playing a player where the court ruled then eligible.

my prediction i stated earlier is that they ultimately will allow for the 5 for 5s in 2026…like you noted too many teams have built around them…it would create too many enemies… but on the chance the ncaa succeeds, there will be repercussions for those who did use them… i dont think it will be serious tho… probably something like the games involving those players wont count for the ncaa tournament

The NCAA legally has to abide by state court orders. They have to or their representatives can be held I. Contempt of court.

All I know is UH has damn good rosters for football and basketball that don’t depend on the 5th year ruling!

There is a lot of threats going on. But the NCAA is wrong in their leaving out of 2022 athletes and if a quarter of its member institutions play 2022 players they won’t do sh!t about it.
No idea why they are fighting this anyway.
I think UC built a good basketball roster without Collins. Think it could be slept on a little bit BUT with Collins, it pushes us even further a long in year 1

All the NCAA has to do is have the case removed to federal court. The state judge doesn’t have ultimate power over an issue involving interstate issues.

Yeah i don’t understand why anyone is arguing with you. To think that some private entity has power over a state court is just nonsense. Yes entities can try and pursue a higher court, but there is an order to all this and lower courts must be adhered to first.

it does when its the ncaa, college sports especially southern states has the ability to influence elections… tubberville with no political backgroud got voted into office.
if local state judges had the power to dictate what the ncaa should do, theyd have already done it for other issue for over 100 years… football playoff spots, p5 categorization, revoking sanctions, gettting players eligible (prior to this years madness)… wvu didnt make the tournament 2 years ago (on paper they should have)… the state government threatened with state judges and lawsuits that the ncaa should turn around the decision and let WVU in… the Ncaa didnt
the ncaa has noted if you play 5th year players while its in limbo and they are ultimately ruled ineligible theyd be repercussions … 1 local judge is not going to scare the ncaa out of doing what it wants
ive seen a lot people calling cincy a sleeper team for next year… im not on board, but glad to see some excitement back in the cincy areas

Will see. I think Calhoun is a far better offensive mind than Sampson and Sampson is a far better defensive coach.
But it’s not just me saying UC could be pretty good, multiple publications are.
But we will see. I’m way more certain that Calhoun built a far more complete and cohesive roster than Wes Miller did.
