the day after 5 for 5 was approved he made an announcement that he’d play next season too – Texas tech even made a video announcement
And they’re still going to be looking up at us at the end of the season…

Nah. He was always going to play if his recovery allowed. McCasland was talking about it in the summer before the rule change came in, but he obviously wouldn’t know exactly how that’s going to work out.
You don’t have to declare a redshirt anyway, so that doesn’t really matter.
This had to have.been Tech’s plan from the start. They have resources and were doing nothing.

Toppin is and end of the season hopeful and no assurances he will be the same player.

If that’s true, then you really have to wonder about their connections to the judiciary. Counting on an injunction to provide three starter-level players is a bold strategy unless you know something.

The additions of Darrion Williams, Stillwell, Bagayoko. Toppin could be back by February. Definitely a Big12 title contender now. We’ll see about Atwell. Who’s an elite shooter
Honestly these late 5th yr additions by Big12 teams have been huge. Houston, BYU, Arizona, Tech

If you’re widely considered a top 5 pick you go to the draft…
And we were all over the NBA draft projections this year with Flemdawg & Cenac going in the 1st round and I don’t remember seeing him projected in the top 5 anywhere…
Oh… it was the 2025 draft… even then, why stay if you’re a top 5 pick… BULLSHIT!!!

@Kyle_Be_Coogin after the James Nnaji nonsense by Baylor. We’ll wait & see on this player. But if all these players are eligible, then Tech went from NIT level to Top 15 in the country

now POST-season
dedan will likely be #1 in the league … he on paper is likely to be the star of the team, a likely top 13 team. his stock will sky rocket (similar to arizona PG)

This is highly rewarding for me. This time last year, I made a couple posts about how much I liked this skinny kid from France with a weird shot. I liked the aggression and athleticism he played with in the open court.
At the time, even I saw him as sort of an intriguing extra throw-in piece for that class. Someone that could maybe help a little bit right away in spots, but more likely a RS candidate that could hopefully develop into something down the road. And I was higher on him than most…
Fast forward only one year later to Aug 2026, and he’s the unquestioned leader and centerpiece of what is unanimously seen as a top 3-5 Big 12 team. @IowaCoog
