Nobody is debating this but at PG and C we had net games of ZERO experience heading into last season…
But at SG (Uzi & Crash) were EXTREMELY EXPERIENCED and talented for that matter…
This year our starters have much more experience but probably less talent… although DJ Thomas is extremely talented but has underwhelmed so far in college… I don’t see him underwhelming this season under CKS.
singleton feels a bit strong to say “guaranteed”
batemon is my sleeper for you guys aswell…his naturally game is being a flamethrower scorer from 3. i could see him taking a curtis jones type of leveling up …especially with no other true shooters on roster
and then johnson maybe not in a scoring way but a leadership/toughness kinda mantel …hustle pay his way into the heart and minds of the people…
So far in the Three Man Weeve / basket under review top 50, here is where big 12 teams stand:
50: West Virginia
49: Baylor
48: OK State
44: BYU
39: Texas Tech
33: TCU
31: Cincinnati
30: AZ State
They are currently on #28
Assuming Houston, Arizona, Kansas are still yet to be revealed
11 teams in the top 50 would be nice.
They are seem to include guys added to the roster who are fighting court cases
Where is Iowa State? could be 12.
Texas Tech isnt 39th if you are including court cases
actually i just checked… its mixed, they ranked pre-court cases…but updating the previews as of last week to include 5th year guys …
so the rank is pre 5th year, the actual previews 35 and under include information about 5th year
aslo iowa state just came in at 28

This is ridiculous lmao but also the Dedan is starting at number 10 PG. that’s just creating a take for the sake of creating a take. We all know he has to prove himself, that doesn’t need to be a 5 paragraph essay from Pesik. But to say he’s 10 but will work himself up to 1…you don’t think that’s kind of a wild take? Seems like just wanting to have a take. But I do think it’s amusing that All other teams get the benefit of the doubt but UH needs to prove it to you. Zona and Tech got it on lock though
As long as DJ is healthy then he will at least be All Big12 third team…

I think fans assume the “talent” was high because of the NBA and the rankings. I think
One guy posted about all the “firepower” we had and how our offense should have been great. To get this team to the sweet 16 was a coaching accomplishment. CC starting at PF was an issue from the very beginning. He was probably a 20 minute off the bench player as far as talent and experience. And the issue was multiplied by not having a solid backup like a Francis. Our bench was a work in progress the whole year.
This upcoming season’s team will be able to do a lot of things better than this season. As great as King was and as freakish as his talent is, he was more of a 2 guard and scorer than a PG. Thats why CKS keeps bringing up Dedan as a floor general. A true PG gets everyone involved. The way Uzan fell off on offense a true PG doesnt let that happen. Theres other things a true vet PG does, like finding mismatches, look at the way the refs are calling the game, getting to the line in droughts to stop the bleeding, etc…even things that Cryer did, that King still has to learn and things we missed.
Next year’s team is much more athletic. Jumping ability and speed. Penetration and dribbling. Finishing at the rack. Getting to the line. I assume more physical.
Hoping for a deeper and solid bench.
Really, the only clear edge this past year’s team may have vs next year is 3s.
you are a selective reader, i gave justification for all 10, and the 3 below him as a preseason objective guide
but in the same post said dedan would finish the season as #1… you ignore the full context of everything, you nitpick to nitpick
and now we are doing preseaon rankings, not a “guarantee” on who will win at the end of the season…youd think id ranked houston #13 and not 3 with your reaction… youve gone full homer and can have any objectivity in your posts anymore…
its is not a hot take to say Texas techs roster on paper is better than ours looking at it from a preseason lens… its gets to a point uncleju

Chris Cenac is LOADED WITH TALENT… He just needed more experience to thrive in college.

CC has much more physical gifts than both Jwan and Francis. But i think we are a far better team if we had either one starting instead of CC.
Pesik I literally said what you just explained. That’s why I said it was ridiculous. It was a pointless essay, that’s exactly what I said haha. My whole point was, why do the whole thing if the ending is “best Pg In the big 12.” Just felt like a pointless post imo. Respectfully

To a McDonald’s All-American and projected lottery pick that should not be the expectation…
30+ minutes per game and All-American awards should be the expectation to maintain the lottery projection… obviously, CC didn’t meet that expectation, but he was a really good player for us… PF/C.
