Whats happening at byu is so interesting
keba keita was one of the best centers in conference last year… BYU had the option to push to get him back and went with someone else
thats like us having the chance to get sharp back but then choosing to pass on him for a guy with more stats… that in itself is crazy to me
but byus roster actually looks good if they land everyone that they are expected to

*Arizona, found their Koa Peat replacement
*Houston, added potentially their best on ball defender, Chendall Weaver
*Baylor, gets another year of Center, Caden Powell, who was pretty good last yr
*Cincinnati, adds, MJ Collins Jr, who averaged 17.5ppg at Utah St last yr
*Oklahoma State, gets another yr of Parsa Fallah. We’ll see how he looks off his knee injury

Hes undersized. Don’t have a post up game. Doesn’t have an outside game. Mainly like a lob threat, and good shot blocker. Almost a Ja’vier Francis type. But again no low post game. Will be interesting where he ends up. Arkansas?

So Toure went to Damien Lillard’s camp over the weekend to get in front of scouts and train w/ other elite prospects. ISU did not send him there, fwiw.
Yes, you might see 6’3 and look at his freshman production and say “ok, that’s nice, but so what?” Well, it’s all about projection and unique traits in the league. That’s what keeps you employed and buys GMs leeway. It’s a formula for job security all around.
Well, TOURE was not gonna play in college next year. Maybe he will now tho…
You see, Toure is a 6’3 pg with a 6’9 wingspan. Killyan Toure has never been remotely fatigued for one second of his entire life, and he’s a proven developmental LEAPER. Oh yeah, and he might just be the best on-ball defensive prospect in this potential draft class.

Well, here’s the deal. Toure hurt his right shoulder BAD! Real bad. It’s clear now there’s just no way around it. That’s a fact.
They’ve been giving it time to let it play out. Hope for the best, ya know? Even the pro-affiliated side of things assumed it would be ok, so it went under the radar until yesterday/today.
Well, ISU’s staff has been working on this round the clock since then. TJ demands clarity as the leader of this program, nobody is exempt from that. And come what may, we’re gonna have clarity on this soon.

Torn labrum? Out til late November. Torn rotator cuff? Out for the season. A combination of the first and damage to the 2nd means 3-5 months. This is most likely best I can tell.
He’s having an MRI and we’ll know in a week or 2 what the plan is. What I can say is TJ will insist on a timetable from all involved and everyone is gonna treat it like gospel, period.
ISU is absolutely gonna bring in someone else in who can play point NOW, Toure or not.
Because Batemon and Prather really are not realistic high enough level options there. So, ISU’s ideal plan is bringing in a graduated 4 year guy who should have a remaining year of eligibility left soon with the expected 5 in 5 rule.
Yes, the top target is Tamin Lipsey. Yes, they’ve talked and will continue to talk. And needless to say, there’s more than mutual interest there. If Indiana even somewhat plans to cut Tamin and his camp thinks it’s possible, and the new rule holds up? Well…

Dayum. I’m 64 yo. It’s why I never get too excited about upcoming seasons. Guarded optimism. Look at the Texans. Higgins out for the year now we’re scrambling for a replacement. Having said that, getting Lipsey for another year would be insane. I know and understand you were sky high on Toure but Lipsey is a nice little “back up plan”.

Kentucky then pays a huge (5 million iirc) buyout to hire a coach from BYU. Pope who had said on the record his team can’t play the NIL game.
BYU uses Kentucky’s buyout money to bring Kevin Young in from the NBA.
BYU donors like Kevin Young.
BYU now has a team roster full of players BYU beat Kentucky in head to head recruiting battles for.

I was hoping for an athletic 7 footer but BYU coaches were not kidding when they said they wanted shooting. This seasons roster had a serious focus on improving shooting.
The other big issue last season was on rebounding (and effort) - but it looks like this roster will need to improve that by committee if they will.
