Probably one too many games.
But I actually wouldn’t mind that West Division.
Yeah we could win that west more often than not I think
With that West Division would that be the first time we are the “east” team in a division? Because in CUSA and American we were either the most west or second most west team it seemed.
I can see Baylor arguing that it should stay with TCU and Tech, and we end up going east.
Baylor - TCU is one of the three protected rivalries the conference has (Utah-BYU, Kansas-K St). Doubt they split them up. The break down was simply one author’s random ideas.
I still do not support doing anything to support the 4 vs 2 autobids.
How do you figure?
Two of the historically weakest teams in conference are in the east.
Just switch Colorado and Baylor. That way 1 division would be SWC/Pac-10 and the other Big 8/Big Eastish…
Im good with 2 8 team divisions where the winner of each divison hosts a play in game against the runner up of the other division.
Play 7+2 conference schedule. Ideally Baylor and TT are in our division.
I think the conference would tell Baylor in so many words they didn’t belong in the first big 12 so their attachments don’t matter.
There’s a big risk for the best team in the conference in that scenario. Its injuries.
I rather not have any divisions.
I know for sure they will not have all the Texas teams in one division so most likely UH will be the odd one out.
Plus there has to be a defined scheduling formula to where every team gets a home/away with every team in a 4 year player cycle.
Divisions stink but the tie breakers to make the championship game last year were ridiculous.
With 16 teams, divisions give us a formula in deciding who plays who in the conference playoffs. Last year was very chaotic.
Likely will be an East-West type set up, with Houston in the Eastern side.
My guess it would be
East Division:
UH
UCF
Cincinnati
WVU
Iowa State
Kansas
Kansas State
TCU
West Division:
Baylor
TTU
Okie State
all of the old PAC 12 schools
Please let byu into the East.
Yeah the biggest problem with east/west divisions is you’d have to split the texas schools up.
2nd, not a huge fan of a mostly Pac12 division. With Utah being how they are, you are just asking for trouble. Not a good model for stability and unity IMO.
Why do the Texas schools need to be split up?
You could split it by putting permanent rivals in separate divisions and then having them play for the one cross divisional game. That’s probably all you would need if you play eight conference games.
Arizona——Arizona State
Baylor——-TCU
BYU———Utah
Kansas——Kansas State
They’d have to figure the rest out. Iowa State could be matched with Cincinnati but so could West Virginia just as UH could be paired with Tech or UCF.
I think each team should have 2 protected designated rivals and 7 other conference games in the 9 game conference schedule.
Examples:
UH: Tech/UCF
Utah: BYU/Colorado
TCU: Baylor/Tech
UCF should not be our rival. I would rather Tech/Baylor
