Where does it say that both coordinators are returning?

I only see Amare, Weigman & Laufau mentioned in Duarte’s post.

I think the new reality of college football that when there is a coaching change there is going to be huge turnover of the roster. Does that keep some coaches from leaving for other jobs or are they that confident in their ability to find talent that its worth the risk.

Hmmm…Where did Brock Purdy go to college?

I love that play against the Chicago Bears.

Utah should beat Nebraska.

ASU Duke will be interesting.

Oh yeah they should.

Utah wouldn’t beat them if it were basketball tho!

Yes, but what about the big game in Provo tonight…

I expect a TCU win. But I am here.

Very nice. BYU at 12-1 is not a slouch so should be a good game. Also at Provo.

That’s all fair and true.

However, my point is not about the rules nor programs’ willingness and ability to manipulate and circumvent rules.

My point is that in an already very short period of time, some of the biggest $$$ institutions that you’d never guess are ALREADY running out of liquid capital to support their commitments… I’m not sure why we assume it’s all rainbows and sunshine behind the scenes.

Ohio State getting systematically dismantled by a long time underachieving Hurricanes is a great example of what the REAL enforcement mechanism will look like over time… Screw the NCAA, screw lawmakers. Consider this:

How much fun would it be today to be Buckeye administrators? … to get up on the podium and look their Big donors in the eye and say:

ā€œTough loss today, huh? Yeah… Oh!.. BTW, while I have you guys here, I feel like I should probably mention … not only was all that money that you guys gave us this season WASTED on field by Ohio State standards… But also it wasn’t even close to enough $$$ to cover the tab for the privilegeā€¦ā€

" …So if you guys could all remember to double or triple that NIL contribution at the end of this presser so we can try to ramrod it thru a clearinghouse one-transaction-at-a-time…that would be greeeet. Thanks!"

It’s not fun to do that, and that’s precisely why they choose NOT to talk about it… Take out a loan, tack on an extra student fee, get lawmaker to get the taxpayers to pony up. Thus, burying the lead and sweeping it under the short-term rug.

Meanwhile, the average fans keep having the same discussion over and over without that important piece of context included. And it won’t just be one example over 1 year. It will be ALL (or nearly all) except for one, the champ, most years in perpetuity. I’m betting the cumulative toll will add up quicker than we might think.

Fans are largely unaware of it, and administrators are not talking about it by design.

it’s the mentality of keeping up with the Jones’s (nothing new) and refusing to be the 1st blueblood to signal a desire to rein this in…because it looks bad, and they don’t wanna fall behind in that pissing match arms race due to bad optics and low morale.

The rules under the new system are actually trying to address this problem, albeit impotently and unenforceably, to your point.

BOTTOM 10 College Towns in the FBS.
(Not from a sports-related perspective at all tho. Completey by subjective city-nerd/livability perspective.)

skip to 2:55, if you just wanna get to the list:

I’ve paid sufficient homage to the shrine of Matt Campbell. But you guys weren’t here in the forever times beforehand. It’s time to emerge from mourning and take up the banner once again in the name of Truth.

The Truth is, Matt Campbell took this job because of the inexplicable, undeniable, and unshakable foundation we built before him, and that will be here long after he’s gone. It’s OURS, not his.

Anyone whose ever set foot in Ames will tell you that it’s real, and it’s a force of nature. Matt Campbell didn’t do this. Our numbers will remain THE SAME come h3ll or high water.

I’m always the 1st to acknowledge AND poke fun at our shortcomings, our inherent disadvantages. You all know that.

But the truth is, anyone who wants to write off Iowa State is kidding themselves. We’re not going anywhere. Not today, not tomorrow. NOT EVER. You can bet the farm on that.
