I get to go to BYU practice tomorrow. I’m excited.
Victor Cruz, Takeo Spikes, Champ Bailey? Are you trolling?
Never heard of any of them. Are they nfl guys? I don’t watch the nfl
Future hall of famer, future hall of famer, future all of famer
Kind of stoked to see this announcing crew, wow
Then I’m glad to have them.
Victor Cruz, NFL champ, two time pro bowler,
Takeo spikes only one of seven NFL linebackers to play more than 200 games and nearly 1,500 tackles, and two pro bowls
Champ bailey played 15 years in league and was a 12 time pro bowler
TNT is bringing the heat
Disappointing. No star power. I doubt any fan would watch to see these hosts. But I’m willing to give them a chance.
One of the things that made TNT NBA Basketball so entertaining was the star power and the good natured ribbing back and forth.
Since ESPN is contracting with TNT on some games, it would be unprofessional, let alone illegal, to poach some ESPN talent over to TNT.
Champ Bailey will be in HOF the other two would bet against. 2 pro bowls is on lots of NFL alums that aren’t in HOF.
Yeah I’m going to agree. I’m well aware of who all these guys are.
Can’t say beyond that there’s any reason to think they will be particularly good. No idea what to expect from them. We had Golic Jr before too, and I wasn’t very impressed TBH
if we are comparing them to Inside the nba of course they are going to lack the star power but mostly every studio crew is inferior to Inside The NBA.
This studio crew is comparable to most other studio crews covering college football or football in general.
we will see how they mesh. I like Adam Lefkoe as the main host, he has done a great job being the second main guy behind Ernie Johnson at TNT. He also host on NBAtv too.
As far as the commentaries. JB long will surprise
folks. He is the play by play announcer for the LA Rams
and has done very well with them. He has also called a lot of pac 12 games in the past. I will say Golic jr is the weakest link. the reporters are good though
Hate to lose to Tech again but if that’s our first our record will be pretty good. They have Tech winning till Oct 28 matchup vs ASU.
ISU last till Nov 8th vs TCU
Hope the conference does better against non conference than this predicts

Interesting tidbit on the logistics for Ireland travel:
“Iowa State, via the Des Moines Airport, had to get a waiver from the FAA to charter an international flight out of Des Moines just for this purpose. So, therefore, Iowa State doesn’t have to stop. The team is on one flight all the way to Dublin.” - Brent Blum
For BYU — interesting that an in essence neutral site game against Arizona is their pick. In my view, if byu loses that game they probably already lost to ECU, Colorado, and West Virginia.
For reference, this was the crowd split against ASU
Reaction overall — holy cow, they do not think much of the big 12. ASU losing to Mississippi state? Baylor to Auburn? Almost nobody makes it to October.
Does ISU usually charter flights?
Yeah, they always charter smaller jets to fly direct out of Ames. That’s been standard practice for a good while now.
I think the thing here is it needs to be bigger than usual in order to fly non-stop to Dublin, and there isnt a direct route from Iowa to Europe, let alone Dublin. Also, they usually load all the equipment on our team semi truck and drive that separately ahead of time. Can’t do that to Ireland lol. So I’m sure bigger plane means bigger than Ames has anyways.
Ironically, even for most domestic destinations and certainly internationally, to fly commercial you would typically have to stop in Houston, Charlotte, Chicago, Denver, etc. There’s only a handful of direct routes out of Des Moines, and none that fly across the ocean.
That makes sense
Iowa St. taking care of its fans. Nicely done. Kansas St. also offering its fans travel packages. Should be one of those once-in-a-lifetime experiences for both fan bases that go.
I think that’s for the team…
Are you meaning star power based on what they did on the field? or past speaking jobs?
I find it important to have commentators that know their stuff about rules, be entertaining, provide good insight, and they should have the ability to communicate clearly in a way a non-pro athlete can understand. What they did on the field means little to me. Probably why I stopped watching a lot of the games with audio.
