For me it is more Georgia Tech that I think does well.

What about UCLA stands out?

I’ll watch the B12 games but im definitely still tuning into #1 vs #2.

Well, what stands out to me was when iowa went out there, it was SHOCKING how much faster, stronger, and more athletic UCLA seemed on that night.

Yeah, it was a tough road trip in a bad spot. But iowa was expected to handle them easily, because UCLA was supposedly a terrible football team. Instead, UCLA simply outclassed them physically in every way from start to finish.

So I wouldn’t be shocked if @BYUcougarfan was onto something. Disclaimer I’m basing this soley off that one game tho.

@BYUcougarfan @MountainCoug

No disrespect to your quality squad, and you know I love you guys. But this is what BYU, Utah, and even Utah State saw and said ā€œNo thanks, we’ll pass.ā€

Obviously, I’m glad he’s a Cyclone, just find it super interesting, and I’m curious to know what the reasoning for that was. Maybe he’ll end up back in Utah at some point, but for now he’s just in Ames making some of our best WR recruits in school history have to switch postions, and I’m wondering what the story is there.

He is Technically listed as co #1 with our headline transfer get, who passed on offers from Florida and Ole Miss to come to ISU, to name a few. Only to find himself listed in a tie at the X with this skinny kid from Utah who had 2 other offers, Southern Utah was his only local offer. Could be anything, just genuinely curious.

Interesting. I need look further into UCLA.

I would have likely gone there except they had a much earlier deadline for applications with their quarter system and I missed the deadline.

Your choice.

Other fans (non-SEC/B1G) watching is the excuse they use to give those teams higher rankings. It is also the reason they get higher media contracts.

Yah I don’t care about any of that. We’re getting a 1 vs 2 match up in week 1. Not gonna deprive myself of watching a quality game.

Sorry it took a while to respond, I was out hiking.

I like how veteran their offensive line is.

LT — redshirt senior
Lg — redshirt senior
C — redshirt jr
RG — redshirt jr
RT— redshirt sr

I like their transfer RB who averaged 6.3 yards per carry over 100 carries who is also a jr.

They brought in Nico at qb, and despite all the drama he still threw 64% and had 19 tds to 5 interceptions.

Admittedly I don’t know as much about their defense.

As far as trends go, ucla has won 4 of their last 6. 3 of the 6 (Rutgers, Iowa, and Nebraska) had winning records and one was 6-6 going into the bowl game and lost to UCLA to have a losing record (Fresno state).

In their last 5 games their opponent scored more than 20 points exactly 1 time (31 points)

Looking at trends…

Since USC caught Utah stealing signs in 2023 Utah is 12-18 with 2 wins against teams with winning records which are Southern Utah University and Baylor.

Without bagging on Utah, I think that if UCLA continues to improve in year two of their coach this game could be very difficult for Utah.

Logically I want them to win for the big 12. I won’t watch the game so I don’t have to actively cheer for Utah though.

Edit: most of this came from local radio when they had a ucla guy come on and talk ball

That is interesting… I wonder if he said that he wasn’t interested going in state? BYU had a weak receiver class that year with Puka’s little brother being our best receiver recruit and Overby being considerably better.

Edit: also, just cause I know you’re a junky like me, that BYUtv show, AFR, did player profiles on byu players tonight. You may find it mildly interesting for background noise.

I will say, Georgia Tech is a dark horse to win the ACC with Haynes King coming back.

This is a pretty good litmus test to distinguish Cougs from Coogs.

Farmageddon is Yormark’s first attemp to go global, with TCU and NC in Ireland next year. He wants baseball and basketball games in Mexico. You bet if it takes off, the B10 and SEC will line up to do something similar so as to not let the B12 get any advantage or talking points.

I’m not…

I literally have zero interest outside of the B12 after the last 15 years…

Good wiggle and acceleration. He looks like a baller.

There is some science and some art to projecting who will do well at the next level.

BYU has gotten plenty of gems nobody else offered and missed on lots who wanted to go to BYU. I’m sure it’s the same for most schools.

He was the number 5 recruit in the state that year. Usually all three of the universities are after people that high.
