Most were cool but a couple frat boys and sorority girls acted so snotty to me when I tried to dap them up while wearing my HOUSTON gear…
Where does TCU rank on the rivalry thing for Houston?
For BYU I wouldn’t ever wear BYU gear to a Utah vs _________ game, but I’d wear a byu hat if I were to go to a K State vs Oklahoma state game.
Oh yeah good question.
Of the current Big 12 ones, is there an “official” consensus team people would agree on? Or is it all just preference or the same for former SWC teams?
ECU is a fun game to go to… Pirates have a good following… and tailgate.
They did get a little rowdy when we stomped them down 42-3, though…
I had tickets for that game, then my wife had a baby and it was close enough I didn’t feel like I could go.
If my wife and I had kids I wouldn’t make any of these trips I make… I already get “the squeeze” sometimes… ![]()
We’ve been together 16+ years and agreed we weren’t having kids long ago…
Is the average ratings table yours? I don’t agree with including non rated espn+ and byes in calculating the average. That defeats the purpose of using average for comparison.
Especially if the espn+ game is the fcs game
Don’t worry… we have ESPN game, albeit at 10:30 EST, tomorrow and prime time next Saturday against Tech… we’ll be moving up the ladder…
My wife likes traveling with me. Doesn’t care about football much, but she likes to see new venues and experience the towns.
Mine is pretty much the same… as long as we hit a museum and some good restaurants she’s down.
Thats true but the math still doesn’t math when non nielson games are scored “0”. Our average for rated games is 2.61m which puts us only behind ISU before the next 2 weeks.
Edit: My bad. We would be behind Cinci and TCU as well just eyeing the numbers. Point is we’re doing better than tech lol
Ahhh… I see.
Guess it is all in how they determine it for the crowd. Attendance was higher than both Baylor and Kansas home games (TCU had over 43,000 in 45,000 seat stadium). Student section set record attendance and was already over 1/3 full an hour before kickoff. White out where just about everyone was wearing white. All this on a day with a high of 94 and full sun. All depends on how you judge a good crowd.
Yes, there are many snobby TCU fans. Most of them in the younger crowd from my experience (under 35) and many more coming as the current students are primed for it based on what I heard them shouting to SMU.
(To add, yes, they probably thought you worked at 7-11)
There are of course many good ones too. Probably the silent majority.
There’s a rivalry?
About the only thing between the two is left over SWC attitudes that UH is a commuter school and TCU is snobby rich kids and no one goes to games. This is pretty much all 4 of the former SWC teams. SWC teams hated each other and no conference unity.
TCU-Baylor actual rivalry
Tech hates themselves and everyone else because of it. Stuck in Lubbock, what else can you do
Baylor wants to beat Tech and UH but think that A&M is a bigger rival (though no one told A&M)
TCU always thinks they are overlooked, even though they have accomplished far more than the other 3 in the last 15-20 years. Chip on shoulder among Texas crowd.
For the older crowd to look back on…
“According to TCU’s sports information department, after the game custodial crews filled more than 100 55-gallon plastic garbage bags with dead crickets,” the Deseret News reported this week.
I was not at this game but there was a slightly lesser version a few years later that I was at.
Thad what I thought. If that’s the case it’s odd the people razzed him imo, but whatever. Some people say or do whatever when drunk and regret it later. I wouldn’t lose any sleep over it
Houston v Errbody
Not really odd. Texas schools hate each other and will be flat mean to each other.
Not saying it is good, and it really needs to change for the good of the Big 12. Simply how it is for now…
