Big12 Basketball 2024-25

I don’t understand how someone could mess this up so bad

Xavier fan

maybe they added the C and then realized so they tried to save it?

They copied Madison Square Garden

BYU picks up Mihalio Boskovic. It will be nice to have a 6’10" center in our arsenal.

The small teams are adding late big men

You could say the big 12 is good at basketball.

I actually like where he has these teas ranked. I still think TT and BU need to wow me before they climb that high so it’s more of a ceiling scenario.

I agree with these rankings.

I really think Arizona or Baylor could fall even lower

9 teams inside the top 29 is insane :astonished:

everyone but the bottom 4 teams have a roster good enough to win the league maybe even run for national title… obviously some more than others…

Teams like Arizona st and ucf roster wise have questions like can 5star recruits and 20 pt low major scorers translate to high major right away… and honestly those arent that big of question marks. then theres coaching

even WVU in the bottom 4, they dont have the roster because they dont have the bigs , but have one of the best guard cores in the country (if we are adding devries to that list)… if they find a way to mask being undersize, some zone or something, they could be lethal aswell

There are definitely NOT 12 teams with the rosters to win the conference championship but I do appreciate this is a really deep league. On any given day anyone can win or lose.

I even think the bottom 4 are good enough to beat teams in the top 8 when they are home.

League is going to be a gauntlet. No Tulsa or ECU to use as a slump buster.

Just realized UTAH has its highest ever rated commit coming in this year in the 247 era. Which is crazy because he’s not top 100.

Colorado & Utah should be recruiting at a higher level than they are.

talking pure talent… if you had any of the top 12 under sampson on self theyd be argued as league contender

arizona st is ranked the lowest of the group

their projected rotation

  • Alston Mason- 18pt transfer from Missouri st (5th year senior)
  • Adam Miller- 12pt returner. p5 starter all years incl. as a true freshmen for a tourney Illinois (5th year senior)- former elite recruit
  • BJ Freeman- 22pts 7rb 6’6 millwakee transfer (5th year senior)
  • Basheer Jihad 20pt 8rb 6’9 ball st transfer (5th year senior)
  • Jayden Quaintance- top 10 5star recruit

Bench

  • Joson Sanon - top 25 5star recruit
  • Shawn Phillips Jr. - starting center for them last year
  • a top 100 4star Amier Ali , and austin nunez former notable top 50 recruit from texas, returning to ASU after transfer out to ole miss and being bench

this is the lowest ranked of the 12… if this was sampson roster or bill self, theyd be debated as a contender, if we aretalking rosters

the 11th is UCF

  • 2 returning 16pts scorers from a NIT team (both all big 12 HM), a 17pt AAC transfer, a 17pt 8rbs PF transfer (who is a top 100 draft prospect), a reclass 5star center, Lasalle starting center (9pt 6rbs), the top juco guard who did 35 per game (who is a former 5star), former starting Wing for Ga tech, a former 5star guard as a Rs freshmen, former top 40 PF as a rs fresh, former top 40 wing

imo there are 12 roster, that under the right circumstances could win the big 12…i dont believe in all of their coaches, so i wouldnt put money on them…
everyone in the top 12 if they somehow ended up top 2 or 3 in the league, there is going to be a “why did we rank them so low, look how much talent they had”

utah will upset some teams but they wont win enough to contend

their team is loaded with elite shooter, but no defense or rebounding, but someone is going to catch them on an offnight and madsen twins will light them up
Ezra ausar (ecu transfer), has elite potential imo but he is lazy and doesn’t bring it every game , utah isn’t the team or culture to bring it out, ezra on houston id be debating him as a national breakout

coloado on paper looks horrendous … in his 11 years at colorado, theyve been a post season team 10 times, and was still over .500 in sole non post season year

TCU, could be a bottom of the league team

Frankie Collins, Traz White. Good pieces.

Noah Reynolds, 6’3 transfer from Green Bay. Not super athletic. Will his game translate to the Big 12

Ernest Udeh is a non scorer. Scored double digits 1 time last season

Brendan Wenzel, 6’7" forward transfer from Wyoming. Will his game translate to the Big12?

If Wenzel, was a bench piece, great. But starter?

And then a bunch of young dudes. I have some doubts about this squad

VaSean Allete is the X factor.

20 game conference season i think this squad will struggle big time on the road. And their home court is pretty good, but not great. Meaning potentially below .500 conf record. Non tourney team

Will his game translate question. Reynolds played in the Horizon league. Wenzel in the Mountain West. Now both are projected starters in the Big12? Huge jump up in talent (Nick Timberlake at Kansas last yr)

wyoming in the mwc isnt that low of a drop, similar to the aac,
reynolds was a 15pt scorer at Wyoming the year before (MWC)…i thnk him and brandon the transiton wont be that big
… I actually think tcu will be decent, i just dont think the might have the ceiling of some of the other teams

Frankie Collins not being a shooter will limit them … Trazerian white and Brandel wenzel at the 3 and 4 willl be a mismatch night for alot of team, they are essentially 2 super tall guard, bigger than most 3, more agile than most 4…exploiting that is where they can shine IMO… thats why you dont mind udeh not being a great scorer, his role will be to make up for any size deficiencies of having undersized 4s … him defending and rebounding is all you need

their xfactor to me will be rebounding and where they could shine… i could see them going for the a&m game plan next year… everyone in thier top 6 players except Reynolds is exceptional good t rebounding for their position

jamie dixon is also a proven winner

True, on Dixon.

Theyve done well in the portal, in the past

Emmanuel Miller, Micah Peavy, Damion Baugh, JaKobe Coles, etc

But sometimes you dont reload in the portal, especially with how many guys they lost. (Lost 8 contributors from last yrs team)
In my opinion, they didn’t reload enough

Noah Reynolds, did average 15pts a game at Wyoming. But they were bad that season.(9-22 record)

Not everyone has a Kelvin Sampson as coach, though. And there is a difference between making a run and actually winning the whole thing. UH has seen how hard it is to win it all and we have coach Sampson as coach with pretty loaded squads before. Sometimes other factors play into it like injuries but that is part of the game.
