76 teams?
its going to happen. the nit still exists and the cbc gets tv time. if you think the ncaa isn’t looking at swallowing those so they get all the post season basketball money; you’re crazy.
Stupid idea. Noone is asking for it. What are we gonna do just invite the entire SEC into the tourney? This feels like participation trophy BS.
They don’t have enough money
Every team they add by expansion is another team in the 64 team tournament that has to play three games in 5 days to make the sweet 16. Yuck.
Maybe the entire goal is to make it as much of an easy path to make the sweet 16 for teams ranked 1-8 instead of 1-4 as it currently is. (Yes I know there are some upsets but this is really asking for fewer and fewer, I said as much)
You’re thinking way too much, hog. That type of subversive idea-mongering is what’s killing college sports.

Sigh. They are going to ruin the best event in sports.
This idea of a further expanded NCAA field seems to be brought to you by the same folks who believe that the general public has an actual appetite to watch football bowl games featuring teams with 5-7 records.
Brought to you by Draftkings…
By continuing to expand the NCAA conference tournament, they are making conference tournaments irrelevant.
The NCAA already owns the NIT. Expand the field and send 1st and 2nd round losers to the NIT. Incorporate the conference tournaments. Any school that make its conference quarterfinals makes the NCAAs. For some of the smaller conferences, you have to make the semi-finals.
Hell let’s just put all the teams in at the end of the year and have a huge tournament lol, this is getting ridiculous. In reality we should just have one tournament with the 68 teams and cut out the NIT , CBI and whatever else loser tournaments they have
Translation:
The sec is furious that it did not have 36 teams.
The SEC was the 4th best conference this year behind Big 12, ACC & of course the dominant Big 10.
imo, they will ad four more in the next few years and use the 11 and 12 seeds for them, they already have their answer ready with miami of ohio going unbeaten in season but still being a bubble team losing in their conference tournament; they wouldn’t want to have to leave someone out the next time that happens.
Eh. 8 new play-in games that I’m not gonna watch, just like the First Four.
Doesn’t this come up every year?
The cbi was cancelled this year and the NIT is poorly attended
I wish they would not expand the tourney
Its fine as it is
Some teams need to be left out
There is good drama there
There’s been a few teams to come out of the First Four to justify its existence, but that’s all we needed. This is essentially a play-in tournament for bubble teams. Why even have conferences or a regular season at this point?
The SEC must be pushing for this because none of the mid-major conferences have a say.
The best conference seems to rotate between the SEC, B10, ACC and B12. Last year it was SEC, this year I thought it would be B12 but the B10 dominated.
(UCONN and Gonzaga ae outliers)
