Just heard Bill Russell passed this morning. I remember those epic battles between him and Wilt Chamberlain.
RIP
RIP to the great one
The greatest winner of all time….which by definition makes him the best of all time.
Inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1975 as a player and in 2021 as a coach, Russell won two NCAA titles at San Francisco, an Olympic gold medalist and two NBA titles as a coach, in addition to his 11 as a player.

Certainly one of the great champions in American sports. A pioneer of the modern game and by all accounts a great man. Seems like we’ve lost so many sports legends over the last 2-3 years.
And gentleman. He was a leader in the civil rights movement and never raised his voice. You can demand change and be a gentleman at the same time.
From the Celtics on his role in Civil Rights.
He started early as he won 2 State Championships in H.S. as well.
And two more in the college ranks. Russell was a winner at every level.
Yes that was already mentioned in above posts. But the H.S. Ships weren’t posted
RIP!
Didn’t notice
No problem.
Met him at the Munich Olympics. He turned me down when I asked for an autograph
You were at the Munich Olympics? I should have gotten into insurance.
R.I.P. Big “Bill”
Greatest shot blocker of all time and certainly in the talk for one of the greatest ever!
