Very enjoyable article. I was stationed in the Army at Fort Bragg, NC, when a local kid from Fayetteville was filling up gyms all over North Carolina. Being raised on Texas football, I had never seen the fanaticism accompanying a high school kid named Pete Marovitch.
That was such an interesting article, especially as I didn’t know much about Sampson’s background. Some really interesting stories about the challenges people faced and the courage it took to stand up for themselves the way they did.
