Blue Blood Debate

You put UCLA at the bottom of your list of blue bloods. That shows how much you think of UCLA as a blue blood. UCLA is college basketball.
We for some reasons quickly dismiss history. Is it a societal problem? You betcha it is.
There is not one club that has done more for basketball than UCLA. Granted their last National championship dates back a few years. Everything is a cycle and I have no doubts that UCLA will be back at the top. Regarding UConn they are a blue blood. They wone not:
One
Two
Three
Four
but five National Championships.
Now this is what wiki says about UConn:
UConn has won 5 NCAA tournament championships (1999, 2004, 2011, 2014 and 2023), which puts the program in a tie with Duke and Indiana for fourth-most all-time.
Is Duke considered a blue blood? The answer will be yes.
Is Indiana considered a blue blood? The answer will be yes.

UConn is a blue blood and the BIG12 has to get them in ASAP.
I know what is coming up next. Dan Hurley is leaving for Kentucky. Let me ask you the following question.
Have you heard of Jim Calhoun?

No.

They were not in ANY particular order.

They are simply the five blue bloods.

Sorry if you mistakenly read something into the list that wasn’t there.

UConn is 100% a blue blood. THEY EARNED IT!!!

Agreed!

UCLA not so much anymooo.

It sure has been a while but they put college basketball on the map. Mr. Alcindor/Abdul Jabbar is the best college player of all time.

Having ucla on the blue blood list is like having Nebraska or Minnesota as a football blue blood.

It’s more like Notre Dame football. They both have 11 championships, but only one since the '70’s.

Interestingly enough Michigan State went to 8 Finals Fours since UConn’s 1999 run until 2019. They were in the running for honorary blood until the bottom fell out this decade

So who are the football blue bloods? @uhlaw97

Bama, Ohio state, notre dame, USC, OU?

Oh man! This is good for another 50 posts.

Those plus others like Michigan.

I’d have to give that some thought.

It’s not really a debate - more like a bunch of weird people talking past each other about an irrelevant subject.

Not really.

UCLA has made at least four final fours in the past 20 years, and one final.

UH, by contrast, only has one final four and no finals in the last forty years.

See the difference?

And the Nebraska analogy is bad. In football, their last conference title was literally in the 1990s.

Minnesota….their last football conference title was in the 1960s.

BAD argument. NO comparison.

Question——North Dakota State , South Dakota State, Appy State, James Madison, Sam Houston.

Which of these are 1-AA Blue Bloods?

Are Appy, JM and SAM disqualified since they are D-1 now or do they still qualify?

The real answer is that there are no blue bloods because human blood is red. Done with that argument, back to portal news please.

I-AA/I-FCS I would need to do more research.

I follow D3 more closely than that division.

My wife used to have a SAAB, that car was no joke—-it would run for sure.

That’s non-germane as nobody used UH as a comparison.

Just illustrating the difference in success level between a blue blood and a good, but non-blue blood program for comparison.

But you would put Michigan? They have 3 championships in the modern era (1936 AP poll to today). Minnesota has more. Nebraska and Miami have more.
