Blue Bloods Breakdown

Except over the last 25 years UConn has more championships (4). I would rather be a UConn fan.

Kansas, with SIXTEEN Final Fours
SIX finals appearances
and FOUR titles is absolutely NOT “borderline.”

They are pretty much a CONSENSUS “blue blood.”

But they have TEN Final Fours.

That’s why I included them.

Ya gotta include UCLA with NINETEEN Final Fours
FOURTEEN Finals appearances
and ELEVEN natties.

They are another “consensus” blue blood.

But UCLA hasn’t been consistently top dog since the O’Bannon brother years. They are legacy blue bud but not anywhere near Kansas, Duke, NC, or Kentucky over the past 30 years.

They aren’t a current blue blood

He did retire with a losing record at Kansas, the only coach to do so. So, maybe Phog Allen will instead.

Are you sure?

They were in a Final Four as recently as we were in 2021.

And they are currently ranked in the Top Ten.

Definitely a blue blood.

In my book, Kansas, UCLA and Louisville are all blue bloods. Don’t sell Arizona short. They only have 1 championship but they are a perennial tournament team.

And a vacated title in 2013
 I don’t even remember that

That’s great. Their last FF appearance was 2008 before that. Their last championship was 1995.

They’re on their way back, but not on the level of the big four.

Kansas above Indiana. IU won the tournament one more time but Kansas has the most wins of any program. Their first coach invented the game. They’ve won their conference 60+ times over the last 115 years! They have 8 more final fours, 10 more sweet sixteens, and 10 more NCAAT appearances. Plus they won 2 pre tournament national championships. They’ve been much more competitive consistent than IU has.

11 rings and you are blue blood forever

Definitely Kansas over Indiana.

Were we having this same conversation in 2003 as opposed to 2023, I think that most people would pick them as a blue blood.

But the reality is this. Since 2002, they haven’t made it past the Sweet Sixteen.

They are like Nebraska is in football.

A FORMER “blue blood” that may never return to their previous glory.

Agreed. This conversation shows why UH is nowhere close to Blue Blood status. Look how hard teams get scrutinized. People question Kansas when they’re like top 5 all time in just about every category that matters. 1st in total wins. 3rd in win %. 1st in conference championships. 5th in final fours, 4th in sweet sixteens, 3rd in tourney appearances. The one thing they aren’t T-5 in is tournament titles which they’re still 6th in. Then people also question UCLA who’s won the dang tournament 11 times! Lmao

You’re right. That is why Princeton and Yale are blue bloods in football with their 56 national championships between them.

Perennial tournament team does not make you a blue blood. Perennial final four or sweet 16, then let’s talk. IU hasn’t won in 35 years. The won two in the 40’s and three under Bobby Knight in the 70’s and 80’s. You have to stay relevant to keep the blood blue.

Might be the worst take I’ve ever seen. Kansas not a blue blood? Lol

Princeton’s last claimed title was in 1950. Yale’s was in 1927. UCLA’s last title was in 1995. Hardly one to one. UCLA is also 7th in total wins (they’ll be 5th within a couple seasons). 5th in all time win %. 4th in NCAAT appearances. T-2 in sweet sixteens and 2nd in final fours. They’ve also produced the 2nd most amount of NBA players all-time. T-5 in active players.

Which one of Princeton and Yale was in the playoff year before last, and 4 times in the last 20 years?

Look I get it that controversy extends your thread, but c’mon, forever was hyperbole but UCLA is in.

Princeton had what 20 of those “championships” before 1900? We can check back in on UCLA in 2123, but until then.

Edit for year

Is IMG Academy considered a blue blood?
