Not gonna lie… hope we get Raleigh… strictly personal reasons… I live 25 miles south of Raleigh…
Hopefully that doesn’t happen. That would mean they significantly fell from current Seeding position. Too many SEC Schools at top will pull to that location. Coogs are in line towards Wichita Ks as Site of 1st/2nd rd games if they stay as 2 or 3 SEED. Think Denver would be the back up plan. Jmo on how I’ve seen over the past.
edit: if they were a 7, 8, 9 seed then they send wherever.
Here are the Sites for 1st/2nd Round games :
First/Second | Lexington, KY | Rupp Arena | March 20 -22 | University of Kentucky |
---|---|---|---|---|
First/Second | Providence, RI | Amica Mutual Pavilion | March 20 - 22 | Providence College |
First/Second | Seattle, WA | Climate Pledge Arena | March 21 - 23 | University of Washington |
First/Second | Wichita, KS | Intrust Bank Arena | March 20 - 22 | Wichita State University |
First/Second | Cleveland, OH | Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse | March 21 - 23 | Mid-American Conference |
First/Second | Denver, CO | Ball Arena | March 20 - 22 | Mountain West Conference |
First/Second | Milwaukee, WI | Fiserv Forum | March 21 - 23 | Marquette University |
First/Second | Raleigh, NC | Lenovo Center | March 21 - 23 | North Carolina State University |
Coogs in line for Thur/ Saturday gms on first weekend.
I have a sneaky feeling that we end up in the San Fran region.
Sweet 16 & Elite 8 games locations :
Newark, NJ Prudential Center March 27 - 29 Seton Hall University
West Regional San Francisco, CA Chase Center March 27 - 29 Pac-12 Conference
South Regional Atlanta, GA State Farm Arena March 28 - 30 Georgia Institute of Technology
Midwest Regional Indianapolis, IN Lucas Oil Stadium March 28 - 30 IUPUI/Horizon League
Because of the way the NCAA handles seeding, Duke and Florida will get the Raleigh sub-regional. We’re going to be going to Wichita which is the closest sub-regional to Houston.
A conference that doesn’t exist gets to host a regional?
For 2nd weekend, Yes and I would be ok w that.
The Univ of San Francisco says Hello !!
If they end up in Wichita for first weekend, then San Fran lines up for 2nd weekend as it to is Thur/ Saturday set up.
The Dons, Bill Russel’s alma mater. West Coast Conference. Maybe they’ve assumed host responsibilities.
For us to avoid San Francisco, we’ll need to stay on the two line or move to the upper half of the 1 line. FWIW, Lunardi has us going to Indianapolis for the Midwest regional. That means he has us rated higher than A$M and Tennessee as #2 seeds
Yes, exactly. They usually always mention the Host Schools like UH, Rice, TSU , not the Conf affiliation.
For me it’s more abt the Opponents then the location(s). I’m good w San Fran if it lines up that way. Wife & I are hoping to go to 1st/2nd rd gms if in Wichita or Denver. Skipping BIG12 Tourney in KC like I went last yr in lieu of MarchMadness event.
I know this is a little off topic, but when I think of San Francisco and basketball, I think of two players from USF. Bill Russell, one of the greatest centers of all time (11 NBA Championship Rings with the Boston Celtics), and Bill Cartwright (3 NBA Championship Rings as Center for the Chicago Bulls).
That stupid Midwest Regional means basketball in a football stadium again.
I think of Butch Johnson, Dallas Cowboys receiver, #86.
I think of Dwight Clark – The Catch – 49er’s ! May he RIP
Q1 watch
Baylor stays at 30
BYU up to 31
UCF falls to 75
KSU to 76
We are so close to 2 more Q1 wins or losses.
We need UCF, KSU, Baylor, and BYU to have strong finishes for Quad win purposes.
If we stay a 2-seed, here’s my ranking of the 1-seeds I’d prefer to avoid in our bracket:
- Florida
- Auburn
- Alabama
- Duke
Florida is being seriously underrated. I’ve watched several of their games, and they’re impressive. Their guard play is strong, and they have good size up front, including a playmaker in Condon.
I also give Florida the nod slightly because we have played Auburn before and that gives us a little added motivation.
Reason I have Bama ahead of Duke is Bama for some reason has our number
