Brezinas - 1GRAYFOX

MOST OF YOU WILL NOT REMBER THE BREZINAS FROM LOUISE TX
BACK IN THE CBY DAYS THE MRS AND I WENT TO A ANTIQUE SHOW
AT THE CONVENTION CENTER HERE IN RUIDOSO. I HAD RAN INTO
BERNIE THE LAST FEW YEARS BUT THIS TIME THERE WAS BOB AND
STEVE WITH THEM. I HAD ON MY UH HAT AND SHIRT AND BERNIE
STOPED ME AND ABOUT A 30-40 MINUTE CONVERSATION STARTED.
THE MIDDLE BROTHER WHO WAS A LB WAS NOT THERE. HE PLAYED
FOR ATLANTA FOR OVER 10 YEARS. THERE WIDOWED MOTHER
RAISED THE 7 BROTHES WHO WERE OUTSTANDING PLAYERS AND
CITIZENS. HAD A GREAT TIME SEEING THEM. ALSO SAW TWO OTHER
UH ALUMS WHO STOPPED ME WHEN THEY SAW THE HAT. REALLLY
ENJOYED SEEING ALL THESE COOGS. GO COOGS.

What a great Cougar family. I had the pleasure of having Greg as a fraternity brother. He has a terrific NFL career with the Falcons.

Yes, Grayfox, the Brezina family was indeed very special. I graduated the year CBY was hired and was working for UH Athletics/Ned Thompson/Ted Nance. My great fortune has been to know CBY all these years, and through him, become familiar with the Brezina family. Hand and glove, as they say, a time honored tradition for UH.

If I recall correctly (which I may not) there was also a daughter and she went to UH. I do remember the last boy saying that he had no choice but to go to UH or there would be “some problems at home”.

Seems to me I remember a Butch Brezina somewhere along in the '70’s

Isn’t the small cougar Statue in front of TDECU stadium dedicated to them?

I believe it was a donation from the Brezina family. Great family and great UH Alumni.

I remember Bobby as a coach and gym teacher in my high school at Aldine. He took me from a fat kid who couldn’t do push up to climbing the rope to the top of the gym by the end of the semester. Forever grateful for him pushing me. Great guy!

I am from Ganado and the barber there has been cutting hair for 60 years. 2 weeks ago we were talking about the Brezinas. They were an excellent family.

I ran into Butch at Coushatta Casino not long ago -very friendly and liked to talk about UH.
