I just did a quick glance but why does it show; “China (Beijing, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang)” in this way?
Is it only scores from these regions? No other country is listed like this.
You know why, but you aren’t allowed to say it.
I’d be interested to know if success numbers for children of immigrants change for successive generations.
I think first generation immigrants, and consequently their children, have a strong drive as evidence by the fact that they immigrated to begin with. I would guess that that drive ebbs with successive generations. Of course, there will always be outliers and anecdotal information is not very telling.
You’d be surprised…
Correlation or causation?
More hyperbole. The number of current billionaires, and past ones as well, is a pretty small finite number for the entire group. Think better.
Too funny; above post flagged.
Poverty is the oldest excuse for not succeeding when in reality it is one of the greatest motivator.
Redoing, recreating grading standards because of students societal hurdles has the exact opposite results.
Nobody is entitled to anything. This is not how real life works. Instead of creating “safe spaces” schools should redirect their efforts to effective tutoring.
You can call it an excuse all you want but research shows it’s a predictor of issues. Anecdotal examples that go against the grain doesn’t prove otherwise.
That’s not to say that there aren’t opportunities to better yourself. There certainly are and there is no better place than the US to do so. But we can’t ignore the real issues here and act like it’s not a problem because some poor people become rich. The vast majority stay in that cycle and and it’s not all the poor people’s fault.
It’s also not about entitlement. It’s about trying to do better as a society. I care about the poor (I feel called to do so) and want to see things get better in that space.
At the same time how many people bevome rich?
How do you define rich?
You were talking about billionaires. Either way, it doesn’t matter what number you put on it. My comments are not based on that.
