I’m on record I used to find it kind of funny last year because of Justin’s early early posts.
But I’m well beyond that. It is actually very sad and unfortunate to watch. And I definitely feel bad for him/them.
Just from a pure basketball fan perspective, they really don’t do anything right that isn’t just pure talent and kind of “luck” (like swish a forced shot on a stagnant possession type stuff) It’s offensive to the game at this point.
I mean Tang is similarly bad, but at least he understands that he needs spacers and shooters and cutters and passers to run his ‘not-a-real-offense’ offense lol.
Cincinnati is built like they expect to just bully people in the paint but Wes has zero idea how to run sets that get advantageous touches in the paint. So they just kind of chuck out-of-rhythm untimely shots for the most part.
That is if they even manage to hold onto the ball.
Im recollecting and trying to decide if they attempted even FIVE good shots. Jizzle had a couple (one wasnt great but it was in rhythm and makeable for him). There was a good decision in the lane even if the shot was poor. That was about it.
Bad shot selection is probably the ultimate death knell in basketball. If you take bad shots you likely arent making them. They also result in guys being out of position for rebounds, making it a one and done possession. Those rebounds quickly go the other way for easy transition ops and looks.
Cant compete, let alone win games playing that way.
TBH most of their shots (selection, rhythm) on this run haven’t been much better.
Thomas and Jizzle just got hot. They’ve proven they can be fairly dangerous when that happens. Not enough to make the tourney or anything. But for like a half or so they can look legit.
Hero ball, essentially. They are both talented undersized combo scoring guards, tho.
