A golden opportunity for Aresco to seek a new TV deal and TO ADD NEW TEAMS so as to obtain even more $money for our AAC.

We are not getting more money. It’s all going to P5s.
College football is getting too bloated. Feels like the bubble is about to burst. I hope the student athletes come out ok
So now ESPN will also have the SEC. That’s just great.
Mickey Mouse just became the Mouse that Roared…this sucks. Question is, now what is Fox gonna do ?
Seems to me that Fox will want to enhance Big and PAC…bolster Big12-2…just to keep up…
Am I missing something here, or is it STILL a bad week to give up sniffing glue ?
The guy act like he just crawled from a rock and was punched in the face! I don’t trust him to negotiate to save someone’s life. He would probably act like he didn’t realize it was time to negotiate.
I would guess that the CBS would try and negotiate with the Big Ten or Pac 12 before coming to the AAC.
All we wanted was 12 mil per team. These guys will be making 80mil or more per team soon!
Well that’s one P5 network contract done and the SEC is not going to add any schools to split that pot. Now I’m sure the Big Ten will top that probably with FOX since they are up next in 2023 then the PAC-12 in 2024.
It’s clear most AAC games are going to be moved behind a paywall (ESPN +) to make room for SEC. Almost forgot that ESPN wants some of that Uconn money back too.
You’re probably right but it doesn’t make sense to me.
Sec fans are more numerous, and fanatical, and would be the ones more willing to pay for a special subscription.
I can’t see espn making much money on AAC fans paying for espn+
Hope you are right. What makes sense is never the way it is done in college football.
Also, who wants to be on CBSSN? I hate that part of CBS. Unless you are on the Main CBS, you are on Trash at CBS.
The SEC is a big get for ESPN. They will get more national eyeballs for SEC matchups - even over top-tiered G5 games. I also see them pushing more G5 content down the chain to prop up ESPN U and ESPN + subscriptions for hardcore G5 fans.
I already have espn+ for watching Coog basketball games…
Why not make the P5 fans do this? They are “supposedly more hardcore” than G5 fans and have the money to spend. G5s are struggling.
College football ranks as the nation’s second most popular sport with 47.5 million fans attending games in 2019 and 392 regular season telecasts reaching more than 145 million unique fans†and 38 postseason bowl games reaching 90 million.
Even if only half the people (23.75mill) that actually attended a college game got espn+ at $6 per month, that’s 1.65 billion per year. If I were espn i would push as many people as possible to that model. For reference they make about $9 per cable subscriber for the 4 espn (3 espn plus SEC) combined.
At the least our conference can approach CBS to get a bid.
They now will have that early Saturday afternoon slot available.
$8M from ESPN is worth more than $12M from CBS
All ESPN has to do to push you into obscurity is NOT talk about you.
If they aren’t broadcasting your games, it will be like you don’t exist.
Eventually 100% of zero is zero.
