CFP may withhold playoff revenue from SMU!

TCU is a huge game for the Ponies and next year is the last year they’re on the schedule.

Clemson comes in 2026 or so. OU at home in 2027.

Someone bumped this thread up on my page, and it got me looking at attendance to follow up.

FSU game attendance this year came in as 3rd highest all time for SMU at Ford stadium. Top two SMU games are still TCU (2022, 2010). The TCU game this year hit 9th all time at Ford in a regular season game. So the FSU game was good for SMU, but did not shatter any records.

could be interesting what happens if smu makes the playoff and others sit home and get more acc playoff money

If you don’t think SMU can compete at the highest levels during this NIL period, you are kidding yourself.

They are tailor made for this era.

SMU looks to be doing just fine- fantastic actually. They are on their way to a 10 win season with a P5 ACC schedule that includes 2 OOC games against Big 12 teams. Couldn’t have dreamed it up any better for them right now. They got the $ and now conference to be a perennial top 25 team and fringe playoff team in this NIL expanded playoff era.

SMU is killing it. Big congrats to them.

They were left for dead just like us when the SWC broke up, so I have a soft spot for them against everyone but us.

Yeah I don’t think SMU cares about revenue being withheld

Their boosters can make it up by drilling a couple of wells in midland

This is why SMU’s move to the ACC was so prescient. Congrat’s to their big donors! Well done!

The FSU game didn’t shatter records but was a sell out and was totally lit. Like if UH beat UT last year and UT was down. Maybe the FSU game was better because it wasn’t half FSU fans. The Pitt game this weekend will come close to a sellout but requires more Pony fans than the three previous top games (BYU, TCU and FSU), which all had significant visiting fans.

Like many new P4 schools, SMU’s depth is becoming an issue.

Today, the SMU president, AD and board chair sent this note:
" Your financial support is needed now more than ever. We are urging all Mustangs, in addition to your ongoing support of SMU Athletics, to contribute to the Boulevard Collective. We encourage you to go to https://boulevardcollective.com/ and make your contribution today. As we seek to compete atop the ACC, it is imperative that the Boulevard Collective be positioned to provide NIL opportunities that place SMU among the nation’s top programs."

They’re just doing what made them so good in the 80s only this time it’s above the table.

Think they’ll make a bowl game

They are exceeding expectations.

Kinda shows the ACC is really a overrated conference.
#GoCoogs!

Smooo being the new kid on the block most of the ACC is not accustomed to the type of FB they play and their offensive schemes, advantage for now SMU, until the league figures them out.
