Chalk Talk

I assume we will be doing another Chalk Talk seminar this year. After last year’s Texas A&M Chalk Talk debacle, I have wondered if it was just an outdated event. Should we continue to do an event like this, do you think it should be opened up to and marketed to anyone who wants to attend?

I mean, I know I enjoy college football but I didn’t ever play any organized football (other than flag football with youth group and then UH intramural) so I might be interested in going and learning something. Also I know of many women who are very much into sports (some of whom have significant others that aren’t) so this event again seems outdated in purpose. Plus, opening it up could give more people a chance to interact with the program and thus building more positive experiences among the fans. As a highly diverse school and city, I could see some male and female fans wanting to do this together as well or do it to learn more about a sport that isn’t native to their country.

Any thoughts on this? Am I thinking too much about something insignificant? Or am I right on track?

I think that is a good idea.

My wife attends every years and brings friends. They love it. They get out there and run routes, throw passes and have a blast. I think she’d quit attending if it was open to just anyone. Let them have a good time without guys out there trying to show off. Lol

What I WOULD like to see is a return to a fan appreciation day with activities for kids and getting them a chance to interact with the players. Build some lifelong fans. It would take more planning than the disaster of a couple years ago but lots of schools do it very successfull. Why can’t we?
