You mean AAU coaches lol
HS basketball coaches are way down the food chain now unless you have an elite program and there are few of those in the state now - cause those programs are being fed by AAU coaches and now NIL collective

Don’t disagree with this…if the HS coaches were the most influential, I think UH would get every top kid in Texas. Sampson is the most sought after clinician for the HS coaches in the state.

I was a trainer in Houston area h.s. for about 20 years. It sounds like lots of things have changed since I was there. Are there very many hs bb players who play just AAU not for there H.S team?
It’s nasty now - it’s common for top kids to transfer 3-4 IN high school for no apparent reason
No loyalty to the community - strictly business - things change around the mid 2000s as hs coaches are just glorified baby sitters from November to March as these kids play AAU all year around
This is what has made that Beaumont United squad SPECIAL these last couple of years. Even Duncanville is seen as a charter/prep school.
