Oh I agree. As a somewhat Baseball purist who would run home after Elementary School to watch the 1967 & 68 WS, I thk baseball is doing just fine. When I watch the Astros on TV, I see alot of the younger generation attending the gms. Imo I thk the Sport is in good shape. #OpeningDay
I’m football fan first and all, with strong preference for NCAA football over NFL. College football is way bigger in attendance then NFL. You can slice and dice numbers however you like. And it’s all true and valid. But do we add in AAA and AA baseball as well for another
21 million if we include College ? And do we only consider P5s then or G5s too ?
Just all fun numbers to get a different perspective. The demise of baseball may be over
exaggerated
That’s it. Americans changing their preference has everything to do with culture changing.
How exactly does the change in the favorite sport reflect an overarching change in American culture?
What changed, precisely?
Baseball is a slower-paced, near-pastoral game. Football is faster and more violent, among other things.
Baseball is 9 individuals playing as a team. The strength of each individual is key
Football is a team of 11 individuals. The strength of the team is key
Based on attendance and the $$$$ annually bet there should be a big 6-CFB and CBB.
True enough.
The “Big Six” would include NCAA Division I-FBS football and Division I men’s basketball.
