When you’re in a role like this, perception matters. So posting stupid stuff can cause heartburn for your boss (best case) or you get fired (worst case).

Judging by this thread, there are lots of folks that were caught off guard by this. I get that he’s a friend of yours but the reaction honestly shouldn’t be very surprising.
That said, there’s LOTS of high school and college players that believe in flat earth and other conspiracy theories.

There were a TON of replies and whatnot on the Twitter/X thread, though. And there was discussion about it on Reddit and other forums, as well. The attention it got here was relatively benign.
He can do what he wants, I guess, but randomly picking public internet fights is a weird hobby.

Do flat earthers just think you fall off a big cliff into space if you travel all the way to the ends? Or do they even believe in space? What’s their rationale/reasoning? So many questions

Most flat earthers believe the Earth is a disc surrounded by a massive ice wall (often identified as Antarctica) rather than a simple edge leading to a cliff. They generally believe this ice wall holds the oceans in and is guarded, preventing people from reaching or falling off the edge, rather than it being an open drop into space.
So atmospheric warming (can’t be “global”) and melting glaciers should be a pretty big concern for them.

If I were a flat earther then I’d argue that the new water created from climate warming flows to the lower/outermost edge of the disc after melting and then freezes again as it flows toward the edge…
