doing some quick AI looksy stuff and verified between 2 different AI models, the average height of an NBA player is between 6’6" and 6’7" which puts that in the 99.9% of US men. The average height on a WNBA player is 6’ which puts that at the 99.8% of women. Men are on average about 6" taller than women so makes sense that WNBA players lag NBA players by about 6" when playing a sport where height gives some advantage (essentially they are biasing selection heavily from people at the extreme end of height).
On the lower end, about 10% of NBA players are 6’2" or shorter (4" or greater below average)…same goes for WNBA about 10% of WNBA players are 5’8" or shorter (4" or greater below the average). You better be AN AMAZING talent/athlete as a 5’8" to 5’10" female guard to get to the WNBA just like the same truth applies if you are a 6’2"-6’4" male guard trying to make the NBA. Height still matters GREATLY in the WNBA and the numbers show it but there is certainly always an aberration or 2 here and there.
Listened to two games tonight. First half of second game announcers wore me out. Never left more than one or two seconds of dead air. I had to leave the room.

Pele is the undisputed GOAT.
He won three World Cups in three different decades with defenses that would break your legs for fun and fields with sub par conditions.
Then you have Zidane, Maradona, Cruijff, Platini, Messi, DiStefano and others.
Soccer is a non stop sport unlike football, basketball or baseball.
Rugby is too and like soccer you have different heights/weights. A scrum half like Dupont is arguably the best player in the world or a player like Dutoit that is much bigger than Dupont.

Regarding the wnba nothing has changed with the way Clark is being treated by the opposition or referees. It is appalling and uncalled for. The wnba has chosen to be on par with the aggressors. Is it a publicity stunt since thete is no bad publicity? IMO i wont watch the wnba because of it. It is purely disgusting and obviously racist.
I used to watch the Comets. Mrs Swooch Swoopes is IMO the best of all time. She was fantastic. I know she went to teetech. Nobody is perfect.
I just can’t make myself watch women’s basketball. I will occasionally watch women’s softball, volleyball, and golf, but that’s about it for women’s sports.
The WNBA can and probably will just handle the White/Kanter thing by declaring anyone who has played in a professional men’s league ineligible. Maybe even an NCAA men’s sport too.
Was just at a packed fever/liberty game in Indy tonight. Has NBA level engagement, a team shop so congested you had to lineup to get in.
If you build it right, WNBA games in Houston will be intense and filled to capacity.
Caitlin Clark is a super star and marketers dream. But the way it’s also elevated Sophie Cunningham, Lexie Hull, Aliyah Boston and my favorite WNBA player… Cincinnati Native, Kelsey Mitchell to brand new heights. They are getting endorsement deals.
One thing I notice about the crowds is… well they look different. It’s reaching a market that the NBA and college basketball never could. It’s a different crowd But they are super engaged and in a blow out win, stayed until the last buzzer.
To me… the Caitlin Clark effect hasn’t even reached the W yet. So many girls my daughters age were inspired to pickup a basketball bc of CC and give up
Soccer & volleyball. They see how good Caitlin is. And the want to go all in on training. My daughter trains 4-5x a week, strength trains and does agility work on top of it and just turned 12 2 weeks ago. Imagine a whole generation of 2033 girls training their butt off, and what it will do for the sport in just 5 years. Michael Jordan spawned Kobe and LeBron James. Caitlin Clark’s spawn isn’t even playing high school basketball yet.
I don’t care how much he gives to UH, I won’t watch it and I won’t go to games. It has nothing to do with the politics. I tried when the WNBA first started. Somebody earlier mentioned how much better the fundamental basketball is in ladies hoops. That’s not my experience. I saw better basketball at high school boys games. I went to 3 games, tried to watch some on TV. I didn’t like it.
